My reason for not going; we are wank, it's Easter, I have a young family I'd sooner spend time with, shit kick off time and again we are wank.

I suspect I'm not alone with this reasoning hence the so called poor turnout.

Would you call yourself a fair weather supporter ?

No, I went to the Tottenham game at home and the weather then was far from fair.

Seriously though the last couple of seasons I've only got to about 10 games a season due to my kids being born. Prior to that I was a season ticket holder and went everywhere away so no I wouldn't say I am.

Last time I went there we'd just signed Billy Sharp and Blackwell was in charge. There was a lot of optimism at that time.

Don't know if you would class Thurnscoe as Barnsley ,but in my opinion it is the shittest place on earth ,during and after mining.
Im going btw ,well Ive got a ticket, not sure if we are going away for a week yet though.
When I was doing my family tree with my sister a few years ago, we discovered that we have distant relatives who lived/are living in Thurscoe

You are talking about my relatives! Well, I have never met them, anyway!

I spent 15 years (3-18) growing up in Wath upon Dearne and you are not far wrong about Thurnscoe, although a few run it very close in the surrounding area.
Even Goldthorpe next door is a palace compared to Thurnscoe.

Such memories..........

If you do happen to meet them, compare the fingers on your hands and those of your relatives. Should clinch it

No excuses for it not to sell out.

I'm going, but why should it sell out, I haven't even been to the last 2 homes games, because it's a fucking waste of a day apart from the booze, watching shit boring football, and I can't see us winning anyway.

I agree. I've got a season ticket and the motivation to go tonight is zero, although I'll be going anyway. Uni work looks a better prospect.

It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't a night game.

Thurnscoe born and bred, Billy Tightshirt!

I drew my last £20 out of the bank to get a ticket. I took it out of my pocket, put it on the side, turned round to douse my chip butty in tomato sauce and when I turned back, the dog was eating the cash. Honest...

I'll be there tonight, Saturday and I've got my ticket for Barnsley.

Probably going to Yeovil and Orient, although we are definitely passing up on Oldham due to a wedding - not mine!

Another season that has driven me fucking crazy - flattered to deceive for most of it but what can I do.

It's like athletes foot :(

I will be walking the hills of south west ireland. Believe it or not our first stop is Murphys in Dingle! You couldn't make it up
Enjoy yourself blade , will you be going for a swim with the Dolphin down there , I'll flying over you and have a look out for you o_O
On my way to Boston .:)

It's got a Rotherham postcode so that explains a lot.
Come on though, it's no Burngreave.

Don't think that selling 2700 already is anything to be ashamed about. We have 2 more home games before the trip into 1908. Maybe quite a few will purchase while at the Lane tonight and Saturday (me included).
For some it will be down to finances and they will buy the day before the game.
We only took about 1800 for a Monday night game a few seasons ago.
Will be at least 4500 there.

UTB!!

They look forward to playing us and the Pigs irrespective of what they might say, and when we don't turn out in numbers they seem to get upset, its as if we're saying to them that games against Baaaarnsley are no big deal, which they aren't really. The place is a shit hole with no proper town centre or decent Ale house

Have they still got that slag heap behind the goal ?

1. Barnsley is a town 11.8 miles North of Sheffield, 17 miles South of Leeds and 14.5 miles West of Doncaster, nobody in the town has travelled Westwards to find out whats there, as residents still believe that earth is flat and that if they cross the Yorkshire Moors they will fall off.

Snuff is the drug of choice for locals in Barnsley, a delicacy that never really caught on in the South, snuff is a powdered substance which is inserted through the nose and giving a tingling sensation which clears the nasal passages, it was popular with coal miners as it helped clear their breathing after working underground and breathing in coal dust, its now a very expensive habit and local dealers sometimes mix in cocaine to dilute the snuff.

Could be a bit chilly for a dip with Fungi but I dare say a few cold Guinesses will do nicely. Enjoy your trip

I remember my brother , who had a season ticket like me using those exact sentiments , and he decided to go out with the wife to avoid boring old United , and missed us beating cardiff 5-3 , and Ndlovu scoring a hat trick. Thing is no one ever knows which games will be one of the 10 good ones you get in a season , maybe a bit generous with 10 me thinks

Would do, but I'm 800 miles away watching equally crap football at the time, although it being less than half the price and somewhere I can stand with a pint will lessen the blow a touch. I think they have internet overseas now so I can at least see twitter updates

Do you only go to matches you think we'll win then?

Clearly not, as I said I'm going and have already got a ticket I'm saying I don't blame people if we don't sell out, even a win can be dull you know.

That display tonight may have just swayed me to get tickets for Barnsley, Oldham, Yeovil & Leyton Orient
