Yep, glory hunting. People will tell their grandchildren misty-eyed tales of the 5 years and counting in League 1, and how the side who couldn't beat Fleetwood Town at home then went and put 4 past Scunthorpe and the manical rush for tickets for the scraping-into-the-playoffs 6-pointer against Barnsley; what a time to be alive.
We're going then?

"Scraping"???

When was the last time we weren't fifth?

Wow, didn't even realise it was 12:15 kick off until I read this thread! Perhaps I should start checking K.O. time before buying the tickets? ;)

Latest update; approx 80 tickets and a handful of singles left...

Unreal support!

It's great that so many of us are venturing into the wilderness and wastelands of Deepest Darkest Barnsley but I would say that turning up and supporting are two different things. Some fans turn up but don't support the team, in fact they abuse the players and the management - often for what afaict are imaginary shortcomings.

Fortunately plenty who turn up do support the team eg the fans who applauded at the end of the game on Saturday.

Right, who's alt are you?

The away support is generally supportive in the main, as it always has been. Pretty much the opposite to the home crowd.

I was really taken aback by what happened at Scunthorpe, as was Foulkes Jr Sr, after what I thought was a great positive performance - and some (a handful of) "fans" around us at Walsall - although tbf we were dire there.

It was great to see the players and the fans applauding each other after Saturday. I thought we'd done pretty much all we could (I'd've maybe used the subs differently). It was a massive disappointment but instead of the abuse there seemed to be some recognition of the efforts the team.

I'm sorry mate, and I'm not in favour of gratuitous booing or anything like that ..... but fans who applauded the team at full time yesterday should ask themselves, did the team deserve applause ? I would suggest that the team were fortunate to not go off to a rousing chorus of "you're not fit to wear the shirt ".

We let ourselves and the fans down on Saturday in big style. It was an embarrassing performance and unacceptable to serve up to supporters who have been incredibly tolerant this last 3 seasons.

There are too many players in our squad who fail to make an impression at L1 level and it is only because this league is full of so many shit teams that we are fortunate enough to be in 5th spot.

And it gives me NO pleasure to say any of that after supporting the Blades for 50 years, but its true.
UTB & FTP

I am properly jealous of the Fellow Blades off to the DingleDome on Saturday, I have to work and can't make it, but it's a derby match and Dingles are up for it. And I bet the Fellow Blades will be. Not being a clapper, just saying that whilst suffering this level of football, it's good at least to have a match to take a bit of focus onto local tribal rivalries rather than how crap the football is at this level.

Around 80 left, according to O/S. Not a bad effort considering our extremely patchy form really. I hope for all our sakes that we don't lose there, otherwise I fear Clough may experience the wrath of 5500 pissed off Blades, which may make his position untenable.

The significance of this game has gone up several notches since the defeat to Crewe
A minimum 7 out of 9 from three straightforward home games was required and we fell short of that target.
The size of the Blades following will put extra pressure on the players, especially if Barnsley continue their excellent form since Johnson took over, five wins on the bounce without conceding a goal then consecutive draws against the top two - stuff we could only dream of.

The game this Saturday is a watershed moment, that's for sure.
We lose it and the Dingles will be only 2 points behind us on the same number of games
Dale could be in the same position if they win their game in hand (but a better GD than us)
The momentum is with both of those teams and we are slipping back with a bit of a whimper.

Home game vs Donny on the Tuesday and a tricky away fixture at Oldham the Saturday after and we could well be out of the play off places and if that happens there is no way we will recover and get back into it since it will not be in our own hands.
That's the gravity of the situation NC has created for us and I have no confidence that he will get us out of it.
None at all.

A further allocation of tickets has been sent. Granted, its only down the road, but considering our dismal form and the 4th year in Div Three, to shift 6k isn't too bad. Anyway, it will only be the fans' fault if we lose.

Only been given another 250.

I work and live in barnsley now, let me tell you- these dingles are confident! Really confident.
I never thought I'd say this but Saturdays match is almost as big for me as playing the pigs

When the post mortem of this season is compiled - and regardless if some have called us moaners/slashers/miserable bastards and worse - the only group (players, board, staff, manager etc.) who will fall into the 'not guilty' category are us, the fans.

Once again, we've done our bit. Sorry if we haven't always broken into a Mexican Wave as another hour or so of our lives has passed us by, but the fans are magnificent. Absolutely magnificent.

Could not agree more with this.

Agreed, both my neighbours are dingles season ticket holders and they are so smug and confident at the minute. I want a convincing win for the blades this saturday so I can really rub it in.

We have had one or two on here recently who keep berating the fans, well as a whole, once again, they're going to turnout in their droves.

I didn't know if i could make Barnsley but found out today that i could, so i went down about 3.30pm to the ticket office on my way back from work and picked 2 up for me and the lad, there was around 100 left of the final allocation of 250 and are only restricted view, just because i have bought my tickets today doesn't make me any less of a blade either as some keep sarcasticly spouting.

I haven't been posting much recently as i have been pretty busy but i've still been reading and some of the shit that keeps getting spoken regarding our fans is astounding really. We have in general a great support and a very good fanbase, especially for the division we unfortunately, on merit, find ourselves in. Now if the fans are to blame, and apparently they don't bring any substantial money to the club anyway according to some, then what they should do is not sell us any tickets, that would sort it straight away, but then again we wouldn't want to spoil it for the better twats would we now. (We're all twats apparently is what i've been reading in some quarters, i've labelled them an upgraded version just to keep it in the same theme).

Great support going to Barnsley and i'm sure there are a lot of our fans who can't make it that will appreciate this level of numbers, i was going to be one of them until today and this had fuck all to do with any previous results. Some will unfortunately not appreciate it, these are the people that thinks our fans are every name under the sun and some people wonder why Blades fans fight each other, this forum at the moment is a very small bit of evidence as to why it happens, i must stress a very small part indeed.
