One of the worst misses I have ever seen for us

I'm hindsight I should probably have used the worst 'emphatic' rather than 'worst'.

No blame if he hit the woodwork but ballooning it over like that was embarrassing, like when Brewster nearly hit the corner flag a couple of years back.
You probably shouldn’t have suggested it was a bad miss at all!

I bet 'the44' never mentioned his goal against Burnley though.

Not click-baity enough.

Well take your dark glasses off. He is so shit it's unbelievable. He is worse than Brewster. That was such a crap shot. He wanted the glory of hitting into the roof of the net instead of scoring. Absolute wanker of a player.

Just shows Wilder cant buy forwards.

Who knew we had so many professional strikers in our fan base.

Firstly, the pass into him was behind him. He had to pull that back and into his stride:

Then, due to it not being played in front of him, his control allowed the GK to close down the shot, making himself very big. This meant Cannon could only realistically score by striking high (or going for glory as you decided to put it 🙄)

The GK is about 3 yards in front of him and still rushing towards him. There are 2 players on the line. Tell me, where SHOULD he have tried to put it?

The still image shows the best option is to tap it left for Brewster to shoot. But Cannon doesn't get the benefit of pausing play. He had a split second to make a decision

Came on to say more or less the same thing. I've been one of Cannon's biggest critics but having had chance to watch it back on the highlights, I don't think it was as bad as I, and a lot of others, first thought. As you have pointed out, the keeper was bearing down on him and there were two defenders on the line, so the only place he could have scored was high up, just under the bar. If he had hammered it low, straight at the keeper, would folk be still saying bad miss or good save? Either way, it wouldn't have been a goal, so blast it high over the bar or low and straight into the keeper. A hiding to nothing.

Cannon's chance had an xG of 0.61 - so a great chance; however Hamer's was a slightly better chance at 0.63,
xG's still have an element of subjectivity. I used the Footmob scoring. You are right that Opta has Cannon at 0.39, and Hamer at 0.63, with Anel at 0.71

Lies, damned lies and statistics - eh!

Yep and what did they tell you at school? You forgot now haven't you?

K E E P Y O U R B O D Y L O W. So what does he do? Spoon the bastard onto the Midland main line. Fk me I couldve done that and it wouldnt have the cost the club £10m

I get what you're saying and your approach but IMHO scrutinizing a players' performance in a match and saying that said player should be dropped for the next game(s) is a reasonable topic of conversation on a football forum.
We've got a problem then!
If I remember rightly our fans have found fault in pretty much every one of our current squad (except Cooper) at some time this season 🤔

Take a bow Tom Cannon 👏 👏

Hope he is nowhere near the squad for the play-offs.

With that said nice to see him applauded off by our fans, very sporting.
Actually I think it was a difficult one to score. The pass was behind him by the time he'd controlled it and turned, the keeper had closed him down. He would have been better passing to Davies instead of shooting

Sorry

Reading into all these posts. The standout issues.

We need a director of football along data analysis team.

We need a new progressive manager.

If the Cannon signing are of things to come I’d me worried, really worried.

The only reservation I have with the “ it was a data analysis signing” is he was a British player so reckon it was definitely more a Wilder plug. The two foreigners who came in definitely were data analysis signings.

Think it's head over the ball and knee bent but then it would have probably just hit a defender or the keeper

The other thing that is pissing me off with Cannon is his reluctance to play other strikers in. I understand he's desperate to score but again yesterday he had opportunities to look up and pass to a colleague in a better position. But it just seems to be head down and blast it, usually straight at the opposition player.

He should have put it on a plate for Davies who was stood immediately in front of him ready to hit it.
Just as Hamer should have tapped the ball into the net with the instep of his left foot. Instead of using the outside of his right foot to loft it over the bar? Which was by far the worst miss of the match, no contest 🤦🏻‍♂️

His goal at Turf Moor was really good mind and I was pleased for him.

Aye
That would have been the perfect scenario for FMBlade1 (& his acolytes):
imagine their ecstasy in being able to create multiple threads:
worst pass ever;
why did he give it to that useless lump Brewster:
why didn’t Cannon shoot
supplemented by:
Brewster’’a (2nd) worst miss ever
Cannon AND Brewster are garbage (+ Wilder wouldn’t know how to spend £ on a forward
if he was sat on cow wielding a banjo)

NB for clarity: I am wholly unaware if Wilder possesses a banjo, or indeed if he has ever sat on a cow

TC's becoming one of those players who's entertainingly bad.
Will he fall over? Miscontrol the ball? Get his feet mixed up? Blast it over the bar from yards out? Lad's got it all.

Spot on the ball was behind thats why he had to lean back, dont think some fans have ever played game.
Agreed, thought from the BLUT that he should have left it for Brewster but it was behind both of them. He did well to control it but that gave the goalie time to close him down.
