One Blade Standing

I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce a new (very simple to play) predictions game which has been adopted by Sheffield United. It enables fans to help raise funds for the Sheffield United Academy as well as a chance to win up to £5000.
The first game has already started with another beginning on the 15th of December. It’s a £10 stake with £3 of the stake going to the Academy. As I say it’s simple to play:

Select a team to win at the weekend
Lose or draw and you’re out
Win and you’re through to the next round

Simple, but not simple enough for me. I made it to the third round of the first game, picking Leicester in the first round (they won 6 – nil), then Cheltenham town (they won 1 – nil). Then I had a late alcohol fueled night last Friday, overslept on the Saturday morning and failed to register a team before the 12pm deadline.

I’m out and I was going to pick United to win over Port Vale.

I take it this is just a "play" on The Last Man standing game in that you aren't allowed to select a team that you've already selected?

Otherwise everybody would pick Man Utd every week

Yes indeed. Failing that you could just pick Wednesday's opponents each week

One of us could have easily won the game as there’s been no winner in the first game. There were 14 people left in the last round (round 4) and all 14 either picked Leicester, Port Vale or Tranmere of which none won.
In round 3, if I hadn’t over slept, I would have picked Sheffield United to win over Port Vale. I would have then been in round 4 and unable to pick Leicester and I would not have pick Tranmere as I would not have wanted to have put the kibosh on United’s title race. Would I have gone for Port Vale? I don’t think so. I had all the big clubs still to play.
You mentioned that it would be useful if players knew how many were left in the game each week. We do post updates of how each round has gone each week on the OneBladeStanding website under Lastest OneBladeStanding News.
By the way, as we’ve had no winner in the first game 50% of the winnings goes to The Sheffield United Academy and the other 50% to the clubs chosen charity.

As above for me as well i do not mind giving the Tenner away , but i feel cheated and would have joined in the other competitions . I would have gone out this week anyway , as i would have gone for a Blades win .
