Sheffield United 7 Sheffield Wednesday 3

The ground was bursting at the seams. Late comers who coul'n't pay because the gates were closed climbed theShorham walls, I couldn't get closer to the action than in front of the cricket pavilion. 7-3 was special. It made my Saturday,, really.really special. It became even better when I visited rellies who were owls and I gave them heaps. Did I forget to mention that Tom Mcnearney, who had a torrid time against the guy in my Avator, lodged with said rellies. Never mind Boxing Day. The stick I gave Tommy more than made up for that. Truhfully, he took it in a good way. I was banned from turning the screw for a week or too though.

I was there - with my best mate who was a Wednesday fan. Part of the deal was that I had to go and watch Wednesday with him later in the season. Dooley was playing in that match. I forget how many he scored but I think it was a hat-trick. For some reason Dooley didn't play at Bramall Lane.

Dooley was playing for Wendy reserves on the day we beat them 7-3 but he played in the fixture at the sty in New Years Day and scored in our 3-1. We did the double over them that season but the funny thing is that we finished in 11th place and Wendy finished as champions

Said with great emotion that it was a good day, maybe the best, to be a blade. Thanks for the spot TB, made a father and son very happy.

It's odd how our loud neighbours in S6 don't have a song about that one.

shows you in the bigger picture derby games mean nowt, going up would have been oodles better
but 7-3 is always worth remembering

What a match that was, one never to be forgotten, and probably will never be repeated.
Was it really 61 years ago, that we had the excitment of the Blades in that era.
