and as I'm jogging along the beach road, I saw a group of blokes having a kick around.
Seeing they had an odd number, I invited my self to join in to even things up.
Once word was out that I was a Blade, someone said something like, "Don't you recognise this ex-pro then"?
To my shame I didn't.
If you need any clues, I can tell you he played 3 games for us, scoring once and was in some kind of management capacity at one of our play-off finals!
Oh yeah, and he's a really lovely bloke.
He's the one on the right by the way!

I think so mate. He told me he joined as asst manager when we were 2nd or 3rd bottom and in real danger of going down.
We finished 9th.
The year after we lost the Palace play-off final.
You could tell how gutted he was.

I remember him scoring that one goal for United, at Saltergate January 1980, we lost 2-1 (the first of our 5 defeats to Chessie in that calendar year!). Seem to recall he scored late on but had missed a sitter only a few minutes earlier, or perhaps the other way around.
