Ollie Watkins

If Klopp allows him out and we are seriously interested then we will get him. Klopp likes our set up and good relationship with Wilder. Others are wasting their time even challenging us for this player.

Can someone explain to me the interest in Watkins? I don't get it. How is he different than McBurnie in the championship?

Not read it all but before I carry on, have them Brentford nobs been all over this thread like a very annoying rash?

Not this time.

Watkins is going to end up at Villa so I'm sure they're infesting their forum instead this year.

Very similar statistically, althought McBurnie is better if you compare his championship season to Ollie Watkins. Maupay is also better statistically, offers way more threat, although McBurnie trumps both in terms “clinical finishing“. Rightfully or morally he shouldn't cost any more than 17/18 million, but football is stupid morals don’t exist.

I don't see him like McBurnie but I don't see him too dissimilar to what we already have he doesn't seem to have a speciality. (set pieces, heading, speed, etc)
Is he better than Robinson? Potentially (ie he's been on his game for about 3 seasons whereas Robinson had only had one season) but not guaranteed.
We're back in the position of small increments to the team but they are costing huge amounts. I wouldn't buy Watkins for in excess of £20m.

He isn’t worth £25 million.
At £18 million it’s was the right price but for £25M I’d think we’d over paid.
Double whammy Villa prepared to pay over the odds. They are prepared to go from £18m to £25m to get their man cause they can afford it and that ups the benchmark across all players like Cash, Swift, Watkins etc then only them can afford them.
The good news is I’m hearing we are in poll position for Bamford now Weeds have got upgrades.

I agree with what u r saying...however what it does do is improve our strength in depth. It will mean if McB or Moose are brought off its not a downgrade coming on.

Unfortunately the real upgrades are gonna cost as much as Leeds have just paid for Rodrigo and it appears we aren't in that market at present.

I'm still hoping for a left field signing and have a feeling our real target is Dennis

Think he's definitely more versatile than any of our strikers decent hold up play and can also run in behind without being as good in the air as mcburnie or as quick as mousset

and I agree with this he'd add depth and youth to the squad, just an expensive way to do it.

But the only real way to save on the expense would be to buy someone that's not been tried and tested even as high as the Championship.
