I don’t know what’s more cringeworthy. His phrases or the fans that suck up to him like he’s some pre-season messiah.

Makes me chuckle how many people hang on every word of people like Nixon, and even more ridiculously, people like Strappy.

Nixon seems to be a bit Marmite, can any stato put together a list of predictions he’s made for us and give him a TRUE/FALSE rating? Well it will pass the quiet weeks ahead.
Thing is, its hard to assess whether these type are on the money or not, because there'll be loads of transfers that never happen because talks collapse etc. Nixon might like playing the social media game, but he gets stuff right.

Have a feeling we still have a chance with McBurnie. I know not everyone will agree but Nixon does have decent intel, and has called it right with us in the past. The fact that it's not cut and dried with Brighton despite Potter now being in charge makes me think we must have a decent chance.

I think the phrase ‘Throw enough shit and some will stick’ is apt for Mr Nixon. Windmilling rumours about every week does not a top journo make.

This is what I've seen on their forums too. Think most would love to recoup the money they paid for him

Fair enough, I've only seen him fleetingly. I read an article yesterday which I can't find now, that said that Bristol only scored 59 goals last season, chances were hard to come by and Diedhiou was up top in a lone striker role and ran his socks off in a near thankless task. There were no comments from their fans though.

I don't mind Nixon as much as some others seem to. Just take him for what he is - a journo who obviously hears numerous whispers. Some he gets right, some wrong. Personally, I'm interested in hearing any insights of Utd's transfer activity even though some/most will prove to be off the mark.

That's exactly how I feel about it. I don't understand how so many people get wound up about it.

He’s genuinely ITK so if he says you’re in the mix, suspect it’s the case.

Apparently McBurnie has dropped a hint. I have read the article twice, and I see no hint:

The fans love him and it sends shivers down his spine when they chant his name, he loves scoring goals to repay them.
And he's looking forward to next season when he can score a lot more goals for them.
You don't get bigger hints than that..

So we all thought it would be down too money when actually it' could be down to who can send the biggest shiver downs his spine.

So there's no bigger swan than Oli?

I think they're suggesting that this is a hint that he's staying there.

He's in America til next week
Interest but no formal offers
Didn't realise he's a Yorkshire lad and maybe a move back home may sway it,you never know
Will update if I hear anything more

13 in 41 last season...

There are crossed wires on here because I mentioned Famara Diedhiou as an alternative to McBurnie. I didn't suggest it as a separate thread because it would have only been a suggestion and was related to a second choice if we can't get McBnrnie, not that they're the same type but there are similarities re height and both can hold it up and bring others into play. Famara has more pace from what I've seen but not as much guile as McBurnie. Famara's more similar to Madine but I think Famara has a bit more about him, and that's coming from a big fan of Madine.

Re the 13 in 41 for Diedhiou, he's played as a lone forward this season and often for 90 minutes, Bristol have only scored 59 goals this season, compared to our 78. I'm not saying he's my first choice but I was impressed with him at the Lane and depending on affordability, he could be a good signing. It's only my thoughts, I'm no scout obviously!

I can remember two of his from last summer:
Alan Hutton and Charlie Mulgrew to the Rusties.

Fair, he was very good at the Lane, arguably the best CF performance we've seen against us at the lane all season...

But, like many who've seen a bit of him that wasn't/isn't the norm for him. He's basically leon clarke but with far less good performances a season than even leon would be capable of now.

Mcburnie on the other hand... get him if we can

I want us to sign McBurnie more than any other player this summer - that I know is realistic and I've heard of! I can't comment on Diedhiou over the season TBF. There's many forwards out there that will improve us, many will be abroad though and its whether we're looking in that market yet.

Back onto the discussions on wages and whether we can or can't compete with Brighton. I just stumbled upon this on Twitter which states that Burnley have the 18th highest (above who?? Huddersfield and Cardiff maybe) wages at £82m per annum... EIGHTY TWO MILLION!

On a 25-man squad that's >£60k per week, per player.

Obviously there's more than just the 25-man squad - youth players and management team etc. Even if you say that is split over 50 people, it's still over £30k per head.

EDIT - found the article. Huddersfield pay the lowest, Brighton 19th @ £78m.

I'll start a thread on this.

Thought he was very good for Bristol City - agree. A real handful! One of the best to play against us last season imo. Good shout.
