Surely we should really push for Maupay, Gayle or maybe Adams as an alternative to McBurnie if we can't get him. Assombalonga scores a couple but he's a 1 in 3 chances kind of striker, not very clinical which is what frustrates Boro fans. We need a forward who's gonna take every chance in this league where I expect our chances to be very limited especially against the top half sides.
Maupay 25 goals 112 Shots (1 in 4.48 shots)
Assombalonga 14 goals 56 shots (1 in 4 shots)
Adams 22 goals 81 shots (1 in 3.68 shots)
McBurnie 22 goals 66 shots (1 in 3 shots)
Sharp 23 goals 60 shots (1 in 2.6 shots)

Obviously this doesn't take into account the quality of the chances.

That's really interesting.
Obviously there are reasons why some players get more shots off than others, some are due to the team they play for and some are down to the striker making more chances, but it's still good read.

To summarise... sharp is awesome!

Aye, Adams and Maupay are more the type to drive at players and shoot from med range, meaning less converted. Billy positions himself better than anyone, meaning most of his goals are simple tap ins. No one's better than Billy at this, and if we can still consistently create quality chances next season, he'll still score a few.

McBurnie is like Billy to an extent but with a bit more to his game on the ball, as well as having height and an extra yard of pace. I'd love to sign him.

I haven't seen enough of any of them other than Sharp to make comment really.

Using Sharp as an example, I would be surprised if he has shot from outside the 18 yard box all season. With the way we play, most of our good chances are low crosses drilled across the 6 yard box. I would imagine every striker listed would improve their conversion rate if they played in our team last season.

Looks a bit out from this list.

To be honest I wouldn't have thought that Brighton's average weekly wage per player (assuming this figure is made up of the 25 man squad) is £60,000.

According to those figures Newcastle's average weekly wage per player is £86,000. This can't be accurate. I would be surprised if they have anyone over that amount.

I am not saying that the ones I posted are correct, however they seem within the right ballpark.[/QUOTE]

The ones I posted are from accounts and are the whole clubs wages I believe.

I’m sure I read Newcastle doing something sneaky like classifying ‘out of favour players’ as discontinued assets.

So their wages didn’t hit operating expenses and made the club look more attractive

Is there anything beyond an assumption to suggest that McBurnie is devoted to Potter? Maybe he doesn’t rate him at all? Who knows? He was hardly driving Swansea to glory on the crest of a wave, was he?

He’s gone on record saying he loves playing for Potter. I’ve also heard it repeated on a recent Swansea City podcast (yes I’m bored in the close season!).

It won't be anywhere near accurate, but bear in mind Newcastle have always suffered from having to pay a premium in wages, particularly for overseas players, to persuade them to move up there. I love Newcastle, fabulous city, but players need a lot of persuading.

Yeah I'd suggest it's a load of crap.

Top earner is probably Shelvey/Rondon and I bet they're not on that.

Will match any bid Brighton male according to Bit in Paper.

Perhaps its wages across all club employees? That'd bring the average down, or does it state players somewhere?

If we can't get McBurnie and I think we all feel that its less likely now Brighton have Potter, than I wouldn't mind Famara Diedhiou from Bristol City. Won't be cheap, but then again when you hear Dwight Gayle is reportedly valued by Newcastle at £15m then you know the market we're in. Diedhiou is 26 so can improve and has played a battering ram role up top all season for them and so 13 goals isn't a bad return there. I love Madine and he's still a decent option but Diehiou has got pace and more craft than Madine in my view, but he'll cost more, who knows what but Bristol might want up to £15m, not that I think he's worth that much. He is a Senegal international though, what's not to like!!

Put it this way, McBurnie's from Leeds Diehiou is from Senegal! I'd love both but that would be some serious cash!

I like Weimann too whilst I'm here, he can play more than one position and looked class at the Lane, but he did score a hattrick of course!

Diedhou is rated a lot more by us than by them.

A mate is a Bristol fan, wouldn’t be bothered to lose him at all. Doesn’t rate him and apparently most their fans don’t either.

Wouldn’t mind him for a decent price as we’ve seen what he CAN do in a one off game (against us at the Lane). That level consistently and he might be a decent Prem player.

Any news on Reece James? Wasn't it reported that Brighton are after him too? Did we ever show any actual interest? Is CW a fan?

He is fooking crap!! That at the Lane was not the real him. No where near good enough. Needs 4567 chances to score. Rather have Madine who is 100% a better footballer.

Nixon is a fucking charlatan throw everything out till it sticks and has never been first authority on a Blades transfer as long as he has been spouting shit especially when he had his account on private.

Yes Chris Wilder is a fan, yes we are interested, as are others.
Chelsea may want to keep him though, transfer embargo, and all that stuff.

This is what I've seen on their forums too. Think most would love to recoup the money they paid for him

Have a feeling we still have a chance with McBurnie. I know not everyone will agree but Nixon does have decent intel, and has called it right with us in the past. The fact that it's not cut and dried with Brighton despite Potter now being in charge makes me think we must have a decent chance.

Nixon seems to be a bit Marmite, can any stato put together a list of predictions he’s made for us and give him a TRUE/FALSE rating? Well it will pass the quiet weeks ahead.
