I admittedly haven’t seen Burke this season or the season before so forgive my nativity however According to Transfermrkt he has never played at Wingback so can someone provide some evidence of him having experience there?

If we get him I just hope we play him in his actual positions of Winger/wingback. But I feel this is Episode 4 in the "Signing a winger and trying to make them a centre forward" project. Chapman, Thomas, Robinson and potentially Burke. :p 😂 One day it will work for Wilder and the lads.
Don't recall Chapman being turned into a striker and he was very good for us when on loan. Thomas was turned into a wingback not a striker, so we have tried it once. Does once still class as a project?

Burke, Kieran Freeman, Jags, Rodwell never thought I could feel so underwhelmed
You believing that you wouldn’t be underwhelmed by our signings would be the only instance where I’ve known you being optimistic or positive on anything Blades related. It must have been greatly troubling for you, but at least you’re back in familiar territory now.

We played Chapman upfront a few times when off the bench and especially in the cup. Im mostly wrong with Thomas though.

Transfrmrkt isn’t the all seeing oracle of football. I’ve seen him play at wing back at West Brom with my own eyes.

Interesting in that tweet what attributes were specifically highlighted. Now what was it that was reported on here from a club insider that we were targeting in our acquisitions?

Unless we get taken over by a billionaire, it’s going to be the same every transfer window. A few big money signings with the odd gamble thrown in here and there.

My expectations will be low if we sign Burke, but who knows? Wilder might be able to get the best out of him and we might have a new man for the number 10 role.

Oliver Burke.....FFS, really? Might as well get Madine back now if we are already planning for the 2021-22 Championship campaign...

We need to add quality. Extending the contracts of players who are past their best and signing the likes of Burke (if it happens) are not what you’d expect of a Prem League club.

The add quality would fall in to the ‘quality signings’ category x 3

You then need bench fillers x 3

Squad fillers x 3

IMO:

Quality Category
Ramsdale
X 2 spaces left ( fully expect a striker and a defender)

Bench Fillers
Foderingham
X 2 spaces left (expect someone like Swift)

Squad players
Jagielka
Rodwell
X 1 space left

So we will probably sign 6/7 new players 3 of which will be looking at a staring berth. 3 of Which will improve the bench and 3 of which will keep healthy numbers in the squad.

If we got 3 players that went in to the 11 and factor in Berge. Then in the space of 6months we would have replaced 4/11 first team players.

We can’t afford to disrupt our unity or fluidity too much so I’m happy with that evolution.

If we are moving for Oliver Burke where does that impact on the chase for Matthew Cash? Both right hand side attacking players.

Fair enough but there is absolutely no sign so far that we will be signing two more quality players. A quality striker is essential as we are way short up front.

What type of quality striker do we need? Obviously one who scores goals but it isn't as simple as that. Is is a target man and work horse like McBurnie? A link up player like McGoldrick? A nippy poacher like Sharp? A powerful speed merchant like Moose, or someone who can do a bit of everything? Who might this player be who falls within our budget and wage structure?

Another stray dog that wilder is looking to nurse back to full health.

I'm worried about being linked with Burke and now Ben whiteman and with lundstrom presumably going out we are going to be weaker next season

MCB isn't a target man..

The contract extensions and players we are being linked with are worrying. We showed some ambition last year with the £20m signings of McB and Berge. It’s blatantly obvious that we need to strengthen for next season so let’s see more of that ambition. The PL is tough. Norwich showed what happens when you stand still. And before anyone says what about the £18m for Ramsdale there is absolutely no way we paid that much for him.

We’ve not been linked with Whiteman. Whiteman attracting interest from Champ club and we’ve got a sell on fee.

What exactly is worrying about keeping some of the same backup players that we had last season?

We haven't sold any first team players, so why is it blatantly obvious we need to strengthen?

Nothing personal, I'm just puzzled by these common questions/concerns some people share.

Doubtless we will strengthen. And if this unique transfer window doesn't work out, then we will in January.

Yeh I know but he is the closest thing we have. Do we need a quality target man then? If not what do we want?
I wouldn't say so, we need a strong pacey striker that has a few tricks, can run the channels and takes the occasional long shot, I wouldn't mind Watkins or Dennis, but my preferred choice would be Edouard but I can't see that happening personally.

Burke + £4mil for Robbo + £5 mil for Lundstram ... loose two players... gain 1 BUT add £9 mil to the transfer kitty and bring a quality signing in ???

Let’s remember this is the guy who sold our two starting midfielders and then pulled Norwood from up his sleeve!
