So Alan Nixon, who regularly gets ridiculed on here, has now been first to report on our interest in Antonee Robinson & Oliver Burke...

I think it's clear that some agents use his platform to generate interest in their clients.
Of course this does sometimes mean he'll be fed some spoofs, but often he will also have a legitimate inside track.

Im certainly not in the camp of Nixon hate, i think hes probably one of the most interactive journo's answering questions when he doesn't have to. He could simply just tweet a story and be done. I think he definitely gets more right than wrong and is often the first to break things, i often look for his views on stuff because i believe he's reliable.

Antonee Robinson was mentioned on here a good while before Alan Nixon said anything about it.

As a minimum, they need replacing just for numbers. Ideally we improve on each member that has left.

  1. Ramsdale - Maybe not as good as Henderson, but certainly a good replacement
  2. Burke or Cash - (Better than)
  3. ??
  4. Swift (as good as)
  5. Watkins (Better)
  6. Dennis (Better)
Now we won't get all of those players, but if we did, that's a fantastic window.

We must be extreme outsiders for both Watkins and Dennis. I'd be amazed if we got either, never mind both.

No, he was suggested as someone we should sign. There is a difference between suggesting someone and reporting of bidding- then said bid being accepted.

As a random player suggestion... it was Nixon that broke the story of our genuine interest & that we had lodged a bid. This later transpired to be true.

He's also reporting now that we've cooled our interest in Matty Cash having baulked at the asking price.
Oli Burke seems to be the alternative which is pretty disappointing.

Of course, if it is a case that we're saving funds for attacking reinforcements and we bring a couple of decent attacking players in then great. To date, I think the window looks a bit disappointing, but let's wait and see.
 
If we have turned away from Matty Cash, as people on here have suggested Burke can play RWB, maybe he is the Baldock back up and Swift is the right centre mid option still, we could get both Burke and Swift for less than one Matty Cash and still keep L Freeman

Disappointing but understandable.

Seems like we plan to use Burke at RWB then. Maybe he can find himself there with the help of CWAK.
He has all the raw materials, as said before he's got a touch of the Adama's. Frightening physical attributes, unreal pace, but no end product. When/if that clicks we have an unreal talent on our hands.

Let's see if he's learnt anything from his spell in his Spain which him himself says has made him 'feel like a footballer again'.

Antonee Robinson was the ideal LWB for us. Bargain price too.

Since we haven't got him, I see no point trying to find one. Just keep Osborn and RND around as LWB competition, and let Freeman compete with Fleck at LCM. Osborn is good but we need more creativity in that area of the pitch.

Wilder proceeds to make a few signings as the window draws to a close and the squad looks far stronger than it did at the start of the window.

Certain posters pick up toys and put them back in their pram for the rinse and repeat the next window.

Wilder played down the budget last summer then how many times did we break our transfer record? Then again In January.

He’s said the budget isn’t huge this time, but it’s not compared to loads of clubs in the league but that doesn’t mean we won’t be spending any money FFS. He said at the end of the season he recognises we need a bit more quality to go with the work ethic and style of play. He knows exactly what he’s doing!

Imagine coming out and saying yeah we’re going to spend 80 million this window. Every club and agent will immediately add a 0 on to every fee and wage.

Just fucking relax and trust the man who’s taken us from the bottom end of league 1 to finishing 9th in the premier league in fewer seasons than we actually spent in league 1.

Yeah, but he was already at Chelsea. It's just odd to sign someone with the intention of changing their position. I don't think I've come across it before. Plenty of players change positions during their career. Just a little ironic we're swapping him with the winger we signed and tried to convert to a striker!

I suggest we just tell West Brom to do one.

Offering 4m for a player they supposedly want is no way to go about it.

We probably paid something between 6-8m and this would have been influenced by his contract running down.

He's well in contract with us and he's not so bad that we can't wait to shove him out the door.

Asking price is 8m. If you can't afford it then don't ask. I fail to see why taking away someone who they can't wait to offload is some sort of recompense.

If you can't afford to shop at Waitrose, you go to Tesco or Safeway.

In summary, it's 8m or jog on.

Wait until you find out what we've been offering for Swift and Cash
 
Suspect Burke could be seen as another versatile player - one that If swapped for Robinson could be expected to cover robbos wide attacking attributes/squad place and potentially cash’s more adventurous Rwb play in games where we might need that.

Can’t see Burke and cash being brought in so suspect we might have been priced out of that one.
