I’d have sent Fleck on loan, Arblaster is currently a better footballer than Fleck right now, admittedly that doesn’t take much as Fleck has previously admitted to me.

Good move, he’s a real talent and if he progresses as normal for someone of his potential we have a top player come a years time.

Sorry disagree completely. This lad is a rare talent who should be brought through this year. We are going to need him. Fucking short sighted. Very angry at this decision.

Agreed, what was the quote? Has a man's head on young shoulders. Was hoping he might be on the bench but never mind maybe half a season to see how he gets on and then back for the second half of the season.

We will be able to call him back at any point I’m sure if he is needed, as much as I rate him I can’t see him getting much game time for us this season so it will be great for him to play week in week out and come back a man with a season under his belt. If he is excelling and we need him I’m sure will bring him back earlier.

Right decision to send him out for 6 months of hopefully men's football getting into the process of the rigour of week in week out football when livelihoods depend on results. He's a very capable young professional but he is best served getting that experience for 6 months and then we can take stock again. He's only a pup. The PL would eat him alive atm. Clearly we have very high hopes for him and if we were in the Championship next season I could see us having him in the squad next season. But we aren't. We are in the PL so let's use that to our advantage this season and get the best of the pups out for 6 months. They'll be much better for it in the long term.

Unfortunately not, you can only recall players during transfer windows, assuming there is a recall clause in the agreement.

At this stage of his development he needs to play competitive men’s football on a regular basis. Half a season in L1 is perfect for him.

So we will at least be able call on him in January if needs be. But like Jebbo getting recalled from Burton it did him no good at all and he would have been better staying at Burton for the season. Hopefully Arblaster plays a full season at Port Vale and then next season he is ready for us

Agreed that Blaster looks to be a talent, but far far from the finished article and someone who has played less than 10 games in men’s football and even less league football.

From this 100% the right decision to have him get some solid and regular experience in men’s football at a decent level. Will help him develop far more than getting the odd minutes from the bench for us, if any. Also to expect him to have a genuine positive impact for us in the Premier League is folly.

We’ve a very successful academy in terms of bringing through talent and a clear pathway for youngsters. Which those in and around our first team have followed, notably Jebbison and RND who have both had successful loans.

Onwards and upwards for the lad a great move, and will follow his progress closely.

And in the past there wasn’t the need for the likes of Maguire, Naughton, Walker etc. to have loans (even though Walker had one) because we were at a level at which they were able to get the early experience they needed. But the EPL is unforgiving. Which is exactly why we got the City lads last year. I don’t think Arblaster would necessarily have gone out if we hadn’t been promoted.

Why's fleck even still here?

He's no longer good enough for the championship....

Hecky likes him for some reason, nothing more nothing less. Roster clogger that is costing us wages that could actually improve the squad

West Brom had Harvey Barnes for 6 months before Leicester realised he was far exceeding where they saw him. I think it will be the same for Arblaster.

Pretty sure that wasn't Harvey Barnes first loan spell tho, wasn't he at Barnsley the season before

Even at his best his work rate was poor though now he’s a real passenger
Yep. I’m sure that hurts him. Nothing to do with his professionalism. Injuries have taken a big toll. I wouldn’t have offered him another year. But I don’t doubt his professionalism.

Are you having a laugh, he was our only box to box midfielder for several years and I seem to recall that he was also our fastest player one season, although I must admit that this came as a bit of a surprise.

Doubt it.

Why would we sign him to a new contract for one year only to then loan him out?

We would have just not bothered to sign him.

Most clubs that would take him would offer less wages too.

So we'd have no player for 12 months, lose money and he'd then leave for free.

Hecky will keep him around because he values his experience.
