was that in 72 silent ? if it was it was lively on the shoreham that afternoon

Was this the February 1972 match when we had to play on a midweek afternoon due to miner's strike. Floodlights were not allowed.

Billy (seen here) scored a hat-trick.

One week after Santos / Pele played at Hillsborough.
March 1973 , scoreless draw. For the February 1972 match we had central white stripe (see photos below)

bornablade , the Santos match at S6 was a week before Billy scored the hat trick against Hammers

It was horrible, even for an artificial pitch. They used to put sand down in those days to deaden the bounce - I swear at Kenilworth Road they used the same stuff they gritted the roads with. Played on it once (when they used to hire it out) and got pushed over, landing on my knee - I was picking out bits of grit for a week!
The plastic pitch at the new King Ecgberts was similar 😵

Me and my brother had that delivered every month for several years. Every copy was read with enthusiasm, and after a couple of weeks I took out the best pictures, and added them to the autograph album. A highlight was a full-page picture of Bobby Charlton, which I got signed by the great man. The front cover of one of my beloved scrapbooks features (the battered remnants of) a colour picture of Cec Coldwell. 65 years ago, that was ground-breaking technology.View attachment 231339

Priceless.

My dad was in the same class at school as Fred Jessop's son. It was the reason why my dad became a Blade.

My Great Grandad and my Grandad were Wednesdayites. It's tge reason why my dad, being a bit of a dick as a yoof, became a Unitedite.

Thank god for that, otherwise I'd be on here incognito, saying how bad Wilder is for us.

I had one of those as my first company car when employed by a well known local construction company around 1966.

As I recall , the engine was only around 1 litre but surprisingly quick . I well remember going to visit my new girlfriend who had moved from Sheffield to South London by flooring the accelerator in the outside lane and only moving over if something even quicker came up behind , of which there were very few .

I arrived at her place just 2 hours 45 minutes later . Try matching that today .

Great little car .

They were a cracking little car, even had the small American style fins on the back. Bit before I started to drive but my grandad had one and I wish I had it now 👍

You can sense the worry in the minds of most of the people in the below photo. Joe Carr got killed at Dunkirk in less than a year later. Harry Hampson (still our player but not in photo) died of Septicemia caused by war wounds in 1942
