Old Photos For No Reason Whatsoever

The eerie photo at the end of The Shining that has a grinning Jack Torrance (Nicholson) at the front was actually a picture that Stanley Kubrick doctored using a 1921 St. Valentine's Day photo from The Royal Palace Hotel in Kensington. Probably use AI to generate it now but back then he just superimposed old Jack into the picture...

So we removed the historical plaques from the exterior railings some years ago and now the wall of legends have gone.

Whoever is making these decisions doesn't understand the significance of our history as a club and Bramall Lane.
I noticed that as well - the Cherry St commemorative plaques have all been removed. Really sad to see them go.

At 9:15am on October 21, 1966, a spoil tip collapsed onto the Welsh village,
killing 116 children & 28 adults.

One of the darkest days in Wales’ history - never forgotten.

In the dark welsh valley,
On the mountain side,
Lay the little children
Close to where they died.
Their little lives are ended
Before they reach their goal,
Tender little children
Have paid the price of coal.

I was just reading about the guy Kubrick doctored out of the image, a famous dancer in the 20s.

RIP. How tragic and cruel was that, that it should happen during school time.

Slowly getting back to being a better part of the city now. The old post office being taken on by Hallam arts school being a catalyst.

S1 art space just announced plans on the other side of the square, plus I’m sure there’s some kind of music school opening just down Commercial Street.

Hopefully it can continue to be a bit of an arts hub and go from strength to strength.

Quiz question: what significant event in sporting history took place at The Bell pub in Fitzalan Square?

To assist, I’m not looking for the answer which AI provided me about the 1991 World Student Games being announced there (which I think is a load of tripe anyway).
