The eerie photo at the end of The Shining that has a grinning Jack Torrance (Nicholson) at the front was actually a picture that Stanley Kubrick doctored using a 1921 St. Valentine's Day photo from The Royal Palace Hotel in Kensington. Probably use AI to generate it now but back then he just superimposed old Jack into the picture...

I noticed that as well - the Cherry St commemorative plaques have all been removed. Really sad to see them go.

I was just reading about the guy Kubrick doctored out of the image, a famous dancer in the 20s.

Slowly getting back to being a better part of the city now. The old post office being taken on by Hallam arts school being a catalyst.

S1 art space just announced plans on the other side of the square, plus I’m sure there’s some kind of music school opening just down Commercial Street.

Hopefully it can continue to be a bit of an arts hub and go from strength to strength.
