Love the Roy of the Rovers ‘Sign Please’ photo - not least because the signature matches the one that my NanNan got for me from Alex when he was buying a leather coat in Rackhams in 1979.

My Nan was manageress in the leather and sheepskins department at the time. Recognising Sabella, she quickly scribbled down “Best Wishes From Alex” on some till paper, and got him to sign it…

Start of 1933-34 season after we sold Jimmy Dunne to Arsenal. We signed Reg Baines from York, he scored 5 goals in 10 games but the club decided he wasnt good enough so we signed Billy Boyd from Clyde. He scored 30 goals in 42 games but it didnt save us from suffering relegation for the first time in our history. He was then sold to Man U where he scored 4 goals in 6 games
Boyd got a hat trick v Wednesday at the Lane.

Top 2 testimonial match at Hearts in November 1962 Dennis Shields and Tony Wagstaff our players. Not seen the bottom 2 before. At Newcastle in August 1966? Frank Barlow and Reg Matthewson?
Newcastle 68, thought that was Barry Wagstaff myself but could be wrong?

Bottom away at Plymouth 1935, not sure what the minutes silence is for.

My immediate thought was the Blades player to the left was David Munks. Newcastle player (heading the ball) Wyn Davies (?)

For future, as at the time , unknown atrocious Brazilian so called enforcer midfielders

Don't forget Kieth Kettleborough, behind referee, for the Hearts testimonial game.
Newcastle game with Wyn Davies heading attempt on left ain't a Blades game, I feel. No recognition of any players in all white and no recall of Blades playing in all white without piping on shirt collars and cuffs with hoop/rings on soxs turnovers.

You could well be right on the Newcastle game, was checking my pics to see if I had anymore and this is the one I have for 68

2nd top Blades v Villa in March 1967.3-3 draw. 3rd is at Man U? Len Badger is the glum player in the net. Bottom is Len again, looks like at Spurs in August 1964?
I don’t think it’s the Man Utd ‘71 game in the 3rd photo, the socks are wrong.

It doesn’t look like a Blades game, could be Wednesday, the player being out jumped by Wyn Davies could be Peter Eustace.

That's agood shout on Peter Eustace.

If it's Wednesday could it be their FA Cup game 4th round (?) in 1966?

All their matches were away and I think they wore an all white strip throughout.

Could be but I would say not especially about Peter Eustace as I occasionally knocked around with him as a young man through a friend of a friend.
Here's a photo of him at the Lane. Eustace Peter at the Lane.jpgCompare.

I thought that was Munks that was the only one clear in the pic but certainly have doubts now, maybe it’s Pugh for the pigs? Can’t remember anyone else for them back then that it could be.
