Love the story about Tommy that 0n Xmas Day 1940 he played for Everton in the morning and then volunteered to play for Tranmere in the afternoon.! Two games in a day and on Xmas Day. !

I have seen photos of the event, brave or stupid folk on the stand roof, but then again they had just gone through six year of a World War.
What a generation they and their parents were.
