It’s a charity match for the Dearne and District football club in honour of one of their members who died in 1978 according to Facebook. The missing player is said to be Paul Doherty, but I can’t recollect this name or face from the 70s.

Been wracking my brain all afternoon how this team could have come about. Usually with testimonials it’s a visiting team or a team of ex players from the club, was doing my nut in how these players could be connected to one club, made no sense… Charity game makes perfect sense

So Paul Doherty taking the picture? Can’t say I remember a Paul Doherty playing around that era, any idea what clubs he played for?

I meant that Paul Doherty was the player on the left of the front row, not the person taking the photo . His face is a mystery to me, but my memory is like a sieve. I’m sure someone will recognise who it is.

I remember those old season tickets the old guy is carrying, red little pouch with each individual game printed on a piece of paper which you handed to the guy on the gate . Really old school this gentleman dressed immaculately trilby shirt and tie going to watch his Blades team Great !!
