Again much thanks to HH for posting these photos.
I for one have never see them before, and what an eye opener they are.
Now trying to discover who the giant, Blade far right, is in the, 'Semi Final at Derby', V, Villa.
Priest, look at his body size, compared to the others in this photo. Second right, front.1900(c) Squad.jpeg

Got sent this a few weeks ago.

Drive around Bramall lane in 1994.

As a Blade who started going at the arse end of the Bassett era this brings back some absolute memries. There's photos of me as a little un on the pitch in front of the half-built John Street stand that seemed to take fucking FOREVER to finish!

Fred had put a lot of weight on, after finishing football he became a publican at Hartlepool. Died aged 46.

The Archibald Leitch designed John Street stand, with the press box in the roof.

The stand was noteworthy as it was the first work that Leitch did in England. His earlier stadiums were all in Scotland.

the stand was badly damaged in the Sheffield Blitz in December 1940. The press box was destroyed.

I've seen this photo before in Simon Inglis' excellent book on Leitch. I suspect it was taken shortly after the stand was built.

Gosh that's no age even for

The press Box was damaged but not destroyed in 1940 and then 1940 Blitz damage.jpgredesigned after the 2nd WW.1940 blitz damage 2.jpg1950's Ted Burgin gathers the ball.jpg

First match that me and a mate went to on our own.

Got the bus into town for just after 12, tried to while away hours in the old John Street souvenir shop (about 5 minutes then), and were queuing up for the turnstiles to open.

New £160k wonder signing in Sabella, and a real striker prospect in Finneston, who was obviously going to bang in 25 goals and fire us to promotion.

Oh, for the optimism of youth.

The redesigned press box on the roof didn't look the safest seats in the house to me! Bet it was a cracking view though

Many thanks for this photo, it reproduces just what I wanted.
I was looking for the photo Bert started this forum off with, but, strangely, couldn't find it in my photos and now it is not shown on here.
The question now is this must be Norwich in the Cup.
6thR a 1-1, Russell, before losing 3-2 in the replay?

Graham Shaw getting drawn in leaving the Norwich player on his own some, Grrrr.............................
I say that with heavy heart as G.L. Shaw was a top player, one I drew much on to help improve my own game.
It is amazing that we didnt take advantage of keeper Nethercott's injury for most of the 2nd half. He never played league football again after the match

That's the nub ain't it, why 'soccer' is such a popular game, the nuances it creates as the game progresses.
Reference the Norwich game, recon and as it proved, Norwich were equal to United not allowing them to put the pressure on Nethercott.
