A mixed day for me. Utd lost, Wednesday won, and I got married. From outside the church, we could hear the Hillsborough crowd celebrating the goals.
Commiserations of the highest order, I truly weep for you.
Hearing that obnoxious rabble on such auspicious day for the pair of you, seems there must have been a small misjudgement on the organising front.
Not that it's owt new organising weddings. We should have had 3-4 years old social club with all the latest facilities for a good shindig, except the "Twonk" organising it had us booked for the week after the actual wedding date. Finished in a not too salubrious pub, never the less a good day was had by one and all.
Oh and United beat Leicester 0-2, Jones & Hartle.

Great story. In my case, misjudgment or bad luck? United were away, Wednesday were expected to lose to ManU, and as a true Yorkshireman, I was pleased by the timing, which meant that our honeymoon was in September, when prices are lower🤣

v Sunderland in February 1971. Jim Montgomery gave one of the finest goalkeeping displays I have seen at the Lane. Eventually beaten by a Ted Hemsley header.
jim montgomerys double save in the 1973 cup final with leeds is the 2nd best save i have ever seen only bettered by gordon banks save from peles header in mexico world cup 1970

R but, balls not in net, unlike the photo I posted. Look at the reaction of the United players.
Ball is in the net and Tunstall has just started to celebrate. Your photo which I have seen any times is a chance that went wide.

With all due respect, I see no ball in your photo, magnifying glass used, which obviously is taken from a book who's author may not be 'Blades' I know you and I are, and there to make a living.
What I would say is, probably either could be the goal and the only way to be certain would be to read the cup final day Green Un' or the following Monday's Morning Telegraph then compare the description with each photo to see which best fits.

That was our 4th FA Cup win in our then 36 year history. Who would have predicted, 98 years later, we'd still be looking for the 5th ;-(
Since the late 1940's I have longed for United to win the cup. As a kid I was going to take mi grandads bowler hat and paint it rea&white and wear it, that's if they'd take me. Now I'm an old dodderer and the bowler went years ago, so i'll settle for't tele if they could oblige me before I slide off this mortal coil.:)

2-1 up at HT against Hull in 2014, I really thought we might do it....
