Me too, catching the 47/48 bus to Shiregreen where my nan and my twin uncles lived also after I left school to Concord Park for football training on Thursdays, playing matches on Saturdays between 1979 to 1984.Seemed to spend about half of my young life at Bridge Street bus station.
Interestingly, on the spot you mention, there was, in the 19th century and early 20th, a pub combined with a standing theatre, no seats, putting on a music hall, variety style entertainment.
