Bread vans - brilliant. Used to love the van coming around (our chap was called Brian) and getting a chocolate fransie. And teasing him with the ditty...Fletchers bread tastes like lead, when you eat it you drop dead. Bet he'd not heard that one before!

Kinky Ken was our driver. Their elephants feet were out of this world, feel really old saying it but they just dont make them like that anymore. They were almost worth the sexual abuse

Age is catching up, for the life of me can’t remember Jon O’Connor. Was convinced it was Bobby Ford!
I’ll get back to rocking in my chair.
Exactly same thoughts, our lad remembered him straight away, wasn't impressed.

Great photo, particularly of the famous ledge. Off the top I would say 1958ish. The first socks that I can remember, being worn. Doc scoring, Kev Lewis the other Blades player, I think. Spurs kit prior to the double winning team,
of 1960, that team had a more updated kit. Ditchburn in goal, doesn’t look like Brown, don’t think the other Spurs, were part of the double winners.
As usual could be wrong.

The Shelf.
One of the most iconic stands ever.
Bert has sat up there and also stood on The Shelf.

Yes that is correct, the East Stand, seats at the top where Bert sat in 1969 and then two standing sections.

Patches look more like sand.
They do. My memory is that there was a dusting of snow in places. Wednesday’s match that day was called off because of a frozen pitch, and the grainy pics in my scrapbook look that way; but that could well have helped create a false memory.

Anybody remember this area.? You could order cole at Nat's shop, get a paper at Kirk;s and nip in the Adelphi for a quick one whilst the better half was looking in some dress shop on Fargate. Great Days

One of the great football photos.

The crowd transfixed by the game whilst the two tea ladies have a chat totally oblivious.

Classic all time humorous football photo, never tire of seeing it, ripe for writing a caption for:- mine would be......
Alice, in light coat, "Maude was that feller whistling at you or me"?
Read all posts before posting 'soft Mick', must be an age thing.

Lady in white coat; "Is that the Wilder lad we've just passed?"
"Fxxk him if it is" said lady in black.

looks like 77/78 kit if its richard harwood he went to same school as me shirecliffe
Richard played with my son in an amateur team before his UTD appearances. Also in the squad was one Rick Savage who used to bring his guitar and play it in the dressing room prior to the game. The manager would come in and say....." put that away you'll never make any money strumming that., concentrate on football!."
The rest as they say is history.................
