I think I would have gone if was an Indian and can't recall.
Mrs thinks it was barkers behind city Hall but I'm not convinced

There was definitely an Indian there for a while. Was in one night when a well known black guy had a Wild West type fight with half the waiters and kitchen staff. I think it might have been called Ayeshas

missed that game march 75 at a wedding think cass pennant and his boys were on the kop that day they certainly were in the 3 - 0 win home game about 78-79 he mentions that one in one of his books they got turned over quite badly that night

Pennant was. He pulled out a knife when it got on top. Police just surrounded his little group for the rest of the game.

Reckon I was involved in every Blades altercation from 72- 82 then another crew took over can’t ever remember us being on the back foot some slow starts but we always got there

Yea talked to Pennant after the court case we were drinking in the Blue Bell exchanged notes brilliant privileged to have been involved in that era

What a memory, I would imagine there are not many on here, if any, that have seen a match with a goalkeeper wearing white. Colours used to be green, red, blue, white and black. Probably all went out the door when they started turning out in these kind of jerseys. Though they do look good and couldn't resist one of Mel. The last one's rather snazzy, also.View attachment 98507View attachment 98508 View attachment 98509
Getting back to the A and B sides, in the 50's, there was a ground at Dore and one at Woodhouse which I believe United teams played on, maybe some one can throw some light on this. Memory says the Woodhouse one was completely enclosed by high fencing with rudimentary terracing and had been used since before the First War to hold finals of local cup competitions. My maternal grandad played in a "Kelley Cup Final" there in 1912. Kelley was a Councillor and the competition was used to raise funds for local hospitals. My first association with this ground was either end of season 1947 or 48 as my grandfather's youngest brother was a referee, reffing, a cup final there and my grandad went along taking me. Beautiful manicured pitch and the memory of going in the Brunswick Arms across the road as that was the changing rooms, in the roof space, for the teams and officials. I later played on there some10-11 years later, mid winter, inch or two of snow and the pitch had deteriorated with puddles all over covered in ice. Still changed in the pub if memory serves.
The other ground at Dore was surrounded by houses and was a good well kept ground when I played there V Dore probably back end of same season I played at the Brunswick Ground as memory tells me it was a sunny day.
It was brunsmeer ground, United junior teams played there till mid nineties I think. Spent many a Sunday morning watching brunsmeer 1st team at the time, enjoying a bacon sani or two made by Anne and Joyce in the cafe there, having a laugh with the Late Andy Wilson.
Good days.

yeah used to go there with lad steve the dry pole on far side john the blade in middle and lad near window was a wendy cant remember his name but all 3 were great lads always plenty of banter and a good laugh when you went in there 👍
He wasn't Polish he was Hungarian.

That might be right with his accent I may have mistook Ukranian for Hungarian🤔
Wherever he was from he was a top bloke.
Pretty sure every Wednesday fan thought he was a Blade and Blades fans vice versa. He just loved the wind-up

oh yeah he did always on the wind up john in middle chair was a south stand season ticket holder
I did the conga down the back stairs of the Leppings Lane stand with John at the end of the 3-1 game in 92. He was there with his lad - always seemed the quiet one in the shop but was on great form that night!

I thought he was Ukrainian. He told me he was from near Kiev. He went back to see his brother in the late 80s I think.
Yes he was. I used to go there late 80s, recommended it to my dad who went for many years and got to know Steve quite well.

The building was originally JW Northend printers, it was acquired by Stones brewery who converted it into Barkers, which then became Edwards & latterly Reflex Music bar

Wasnt Barkers a stand alone place and Edwards incorporated the Red Lion building?

Bramall Lane! Leeds, Newcastle, Man U, Chelsea all caused lots of bother.

Away wise, Bolton took some beating, as did Stamford Bridge. Bury was rough as well.

The Chelsea home game....one of Bert's gang was arrested. The Sheffield Star's report said that "Ackroyd was seen to lead the charge" arf arf. Fined £80.

Bert still sees him around.
Acker ?

A little confused here, was it the Woodhouse or Dore ground you call Brunsmeer ground? Thank you.
