He told Bassett he didn’t want to play as a centre half. That was the start of it. Then Bassett sorted him a move and he turned it down, which pissed Bassett off and, if I remember correctly, he told him to stay away from the Lane. He was a pillock, he could have been a decent to good top level centre half. As you say, much better in that position than centre mid.
