Park club still open. My parents go in sat nights. Dad goes in trades Sunday dinner same spot nr enough as top drum his local when I was a kid. Wybourn lad, mam & dad still on Wybourn.

Great photo. Can't remember it like that. Building across the road is now taller and became Griffin House part of the old Midland Bank. Been empty for years. Then is it Hereford Street where the Whetstone was? Did Tyzack have a place on either Woodseats Road or Archer Road?
They had another works, Horseman Works on Green Lane, Kelham Island. The facade at least is still there and maybe the building itself.
I think The Whetstone was on Cumberland Street, Hereford Street finished at Eyre Street I think, there was a pub on Hereford Street but I never went in and can’t even remember its name. I’m sure someone will enlighten us.
I used to wait for the 51 bus under the pillars to take me home after the match.

Can't remember the name. It was in the row of shops between the Samson and Willoughbys newsagents. Crown Pkace was higher up Duke Street. Are you thinking of the one on the corner below the bookies?

Embassy Court?

Tony's chippy was started by the same family who run the Frymaster down Attercliffe. Their menu lists all their old chippies and there's a fair few.

I know Tony Mitchell ( little Mitch) lives at Richmond I think

The Tony Mitchell I know isn't that small, more average height I would say, decent amateur footballer, had a brother Paul with a Rod Stewart barnet played left wing, & they had a younger brother Gary, built like a brick shithouse but wasn't very good. Think they were from around Pitsmoor though so again probably a different family. All Blades though.

The Gary Mitchell I know is bent nose he’s of Pitsmoor

Indeed it was . She was as mad as a march hare and many is the time I've seen her launch bricks and bottles into Woodhouse West End Junior school yard in response to the kids yelling ' prudo prudo prudo ' .

Absolutely shocking when you think about that whole situation now and very sad .

Agreed, very sad and shocking thinking about it now, just seemed funny at the time. Did you go to City School then mate?
