Brilliant, proper schoolboys' adventure that. I bet you would've been in big trouble if you got back to school late.
Yes we got into trouble. The housemaster drove in his car looking for us and it was about 8pm when he found us walking from the Newbury train station to the school (distance is 4 miles). We were grounded for a week!

View attachment 38991 I came across this earlier today. Mrs SW12 got a bee in her bonnet about cleaning the house and wanted me to file some recent cricket scorecards “as they were collecting dust!”
Anyway, seeing as the season is almost over and cricket has started I thought this might be of interest to some of our older contributors.

I like the way that if the bowler has a long name they abbreviate Engine'r and Bairst'w because they can't fit his name in otherwise :)

On the evidence of the last 4 days, Yorkshire's batting hasn't seen any improvement in the last 45 years.

Rule bend alert.
Not an old photo as such but a photo of on old person.....plus it's near The Lane.

Mum in front of 59,Alderson Road where she was born in the upstairs front room almost 82 years ago, she's a bit miffed that it's the only one in the street with cladding. She later moved to Woodhead Road but apparently the side she lived on was demolished late 70's.
The second is her outside her first school.... anyone know where this is as my sister has failed to put this info in the email. I'm guessing it's somewhere in that area ?

I know that house well. I grew up round the corner on Alderson Place :).
Rumour has it that that house was an ex-Blades player's hence he wanted it to do it up (mid-1980s?).
As for the school, it's my old school, too. It's St.Barnabas on Alderson Rd (now the bed shop opposite the Golden Lion pub).

Can of worms you've opened up there... 'Photo of an old person'? I'll be posting a selfie any day now. Well, I would if I knew how to take one. Oh, and if I had a mobile phone...
