Thanks Gray, for what is probably my all time favourite team photo (to date at any rate), further to earlier posts, just a random comment, Bernard Shaw used to visit his mam on the Parson Cross about this time, my old girl friend told me she used to bump into him. Just sayin.

I need a screen bigger than this laptop!

Funny thing is they all now look like young people - Back in 1980 they all looked old - How does that work? :D

Was second from left back row, Hamilton?

4th from left back row Gary West?

2nd from right back row Steve Whitham?

[/QUOTE]

No to those three. We never had a Steve Whitham

:(

I'm sure we had a player called Steve Whitham. I remember a business associate telling me that her husband Steve, had played for us. Maybe he was a reserve or junior or something.

Or maybe she was mistaken

I thought it was Wigley at first Bos but I think this pic is too early for it to be him. He was at the Lane 85-7 and I reckon pic is around 1980 isn’t it?

A pic from Blades versus Norwich City, February 28th 1959 FA Cup Quarter Final.

My first ever Blades game and I would have been down the front near the dug outs in John Street.

Can't quite make myself out though :D

Crossan equalises for Norwich according to the caption that was next to it

You can just make out Warnock as a young kid being passed down from the back of the kop to the front.

We lost 4-2 at Bolton that day

Remember that day. Boiling hot day, end of the school holidays. I'd been playing football in Graves park all afternoon and when we got to Meadowhead shops we heard the two results from Bolton and Hillsborough.

First defeat for the season for us. The sale of Willie Carlin was setting in. (Derby's results on the other hand improved immediately).

I realised that this second division football wasn't going to be as straight forward as first thought.
