OMG I used to stand next to the first post in the middle with me mates , Happy Days . Pub , watch the Blades , home to watch birds in Bay Watch while having tea , shower and then out for a night round town and the Roxys , That's living alright !!!

On this weekend in 1978...



Drew 0-0 at theirs in front of a 7196 crowd, we took a good 2500 following...

The replay was on the Monday night 18/12/78... and we knew if we could beat them a home tie vs West Ham was the prize...

10,223 flocked in through the gates and roared us on, we took the lead and seemed destined to make it until a cruel last minute own goal put the division 4 club level and into extra time where the deflation of being so close led to a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat.

(In the 1st round we blew away 3rd division Plymouth managed by Malcolm Allison 2-0 in front of 8253)...

If only we'd made that step up to being a league club back the in those days, then things might be so much different now.

Unfortunately not.
The only one I see occasionally is the lad on the back row far left, the majority I've never seen since leaving St. Pat's.
I do remember them well though, and all their names.
It's nice to look back but a little sad at the same time.
Where did all that time go?

I lived at lane top. What year was the photo and what were some of the names please?

Ha! Back then probably yes. I was watching us play Chelsea at the Bridge circa 1977 on BT Sports earlier this week and the pitch looked like a bomb site.
