Spent many hours in this pub, Albert Inn on Sutherland St. I worked across road in Firth Browns Norfolk bar mill for a period in the 70's and the Albert was our preferred boozer, great pint of magnet kept by Len Roe, the landlord at that time.
The millhands preferred the Plumpers (Tetley house) across road.
Us maintenance men had more discerning tastes.

Len Roe came from Park Hill, knew all the family. Nice bloke, later had the Wooidburn.

Yep, remember him telling me he was a Park lad, all his kids worked behind bar at the Albert, his daughters were lovely.
Woodbourne was another haunt of mine as I played for them on occasions during 70's.

Corner Pin on the corner of Carlisle street and Lyons street. Back half of the van sticking out of what I think maybe Forncett st, is where we'd play footy til dinner/tea/bed time. On the piece of spare ground above the van, we put up a bonfire for nov 5. Pulled a good crowd and then run out of
wood. Chucked an old settee and some car tyres on. D'oh !

The second lamp post up is on the corner of Earsham St. You're correct, it is Forncett St. When I played on there, there was a decent sized concrete air raid shelter, complete with gas masks and other WW11rubbish. Got many a cut and bruise playing in there. Used to play football on the Olla, well that's how it was said. Moved from Earsham St to Lowedges in 1958. Was like moving to a different world with fields and trees to play in instead of that old air raid shelter and a muck heap for a football pitch.
