I had a mate worked at Rackhams about that time. I always stood on the kop with him for years. I think he did something with window displays, Ian was his name. Ring any bells Sitters?

Can't say I remember but I worked from the warehouse on trippet Lane. Only staff could attend the Xmas party it was the best quality fanny /bloke ratio of any place I have ever been there were some real dirty milfs after a few drinks. Samson was bottom of Duke St, and Red Lion was literally a few yards across the road. The Sun Inn was derelict by the early 60's.

You took your tray along, canteen style.
You ordered food, they gave you a ticket for the meal. You ordered coffee, you deliberately put the coffee on top of the ticket on the tray. Paid for the coffee only.
They called out the meal from another window (out of sight of the main area. Collected meal that you hadn't paid for. Simples.

These pictures of Town are really bringing back some nice memories of trips to town with my Mum and Grandparents (all gone now), and a bit emotional too.
