Don't remember if he played in the season opener in the 1972-73 season (I was there). Maybe you were thinking of the 1-0 home defeat in February 1973 when Hatton got sent off (I was in bed with flu which made me miss the match)Thought it was Bobby
Did he actually play in that match? We lost I remember, didn't they get relegated that year and didn't Bob Hatton score against us?
It's definitely Trevor Francis above, being shadowed by Steve Goulding.Yes, it is Trevor Francis
Both ex pigs anyway,am sure Hope played in 70s at sty, possibly 4 ashurst or pig jack.Really?? I would've sworn it was Bobby Hope
Alan Gowling?

You are correct that it is division one but it is definitely Trevor Francis. Birmingham had just got promoted. I watched them win 2-1 at S6 (the previous night we won 2-1 at Wolves) in their penultimate game of the previous season. Millwall thought Wendy had beaten Birmingham and the fans were celebrating on the pitch thinking they had clinched promotion. A few days later Birmingham clinched promotion by winning at OrientWell, not that I don't believe it is Trevor Francis, but the caption is wrong. It wasn't Division Two to start with, it was Division One.

Top of the league! Woody's corner near the end makes it 7 wins and 2 draws for the start of the season. I was there! The Leicester player is John Sjoberg who passed away in 2008
