Our defender was the late Steve Goulding

Thought it was Bobby :D

Did he actually play in that match? We lost I remember, didn't they get relegated that year and didn't Bob Hatton score against us?
Don't remember if he played in the season opener in the 1972-73 season (I was there). Maybe you were thinking of the 1-0 home defeat in February 1973 when Hatton got sent off (I was in bed with flu which made me miss the match)

Yes, it is Trevor Francis
It's definitely Trevor Francis above, being shadowed by Steve Goulding.

Well, not that I don't believe it is Trevor Francis, but the caption is wrong. It wasn't Division Two to start with, it was Division One.

You are correct that it is division one but it is definitely Trevor Francis. Birmingham had just got promoted. I watched them win 2-1 at S6 (the previous night we won 2-1 at Wolves) in their penultimate game of the previous season. Millwall thought Wendy had beaten Birmingham and the fans were celebrating on the pitch thinking they had clinched promotion. A few days later Birmingham clinched promotion by winning at Orient

Top of the league! Woody's corner near the end makes it 7 wins and 2 draws for the start of the season. I was there! The Leicester player is John Sjoberg who passed away in 2008

Also at that game, stood on the terrace in front of the grandstand with a school friend and his Dad, My mate and I had played for High Storrs against Hurlfield that morning and then gone to Filbert St in the back of his Dads 11cwt works van. We had a great view of Woodys superb delivery for the goal, whitch I watched again later that day on MOTD.
As a footnote,my pal went on to sign for the Blades and was converted from a very direct attacking right sided middy to a full back. Sadly released after making a few central league apps and went into joinery. Name of Dave Perrins

my opening bid would bid would be 15 maybe a few more with a better pic
Cant be bothered :)

1999-2000 wasnt really a happy season for me. My dad's last game was the 3-1 home against Palace on 4th Sept (he passed away 8 days later)

The highlights were Wendy getting hammered 8-0 at Newcastle and losing their Premiership status
