1962-63 season?

I recall a match played with snow on the pitch, the scene was just like that in the photo. It was early to mid sixties and Woodward scored. Burnley rings a bell and I'm sure we won. I remember the orange ball glowing in the snow. I'm not 100% sure but a few clues there SB to get you on the case.

Played for us in that match

January 1966? Woody and Reece scored in a 2-1 win. My sister was born in the previous day and my mum said there was heavy snow around that time

He was definitely playing. He signed for Liverpool same season.
You could be right on that, he made 28 appearances for Blackpool between 64 & 67 and I certainly remember him marking Woody out of a game at the Lane (and scaring him with his robust approach).
Was it the same game? I'm not sure but Hughes, Thompson and Armfield shared the full back duties at Blackpool during that period with both Hughes and Thompson able to play either flank.
In my mind's eye it was Tommy Thompson who delivered the tackle on Reece, but I'm open to evidential contradiction ☺

Gangway 7 Row BB just to the left of the exit nearest the halfway line. From 72/73 until I migrated to the Kop.
Can always remember a big old fella in a trilby type hat sat on the front row, must have been mid to late sixties he had a deep booming voice which I've no doubt the players could hear very well.... especially in 75/76... Think he may have been called Ivor Blakey ?.... anyone who stood on the terrace near him may well remember him.

Hughes also played half back for Blackpool and made that position his own at Liverpool. He did play that game but I'm not certain enough to say he made the tackle so I'm happy to agree to disagree.

Ahh, the amateur Chapman. Turned down a contract with us, played as amateur and work as an engineer. Didn't he impress in an FA Cup game for someone against us and that's why we signed him?
Yes. He played 22 games for us including that match against Bury in Sept 1902 that was filmed by Mitchell and Kenyon

We were the mutts nuts at the time, full of internationals and regularly challenging for honours. No wonder he struggled to play too many more games. Cup winners that year!
