piece of pointless info - I ended up with those boots, I don't mean I went to Suggs to get the same pair, I actually got those boots that David Barnes had on that day (one of my mates was an apprentice down there and he 'aquired' them for me) thing is they were size 10 and I'm an 8! not the same having rolled up newspaper stuffed in the end of your boots to make up the size difference - I didn't play in em again

I'm pretty sure this is the game on a really warm Saturday in October 1990 which David Barnes was sent off in after he retaliated to Gazza winding him up. Not that it made any difference, we were stuffed out of sight that day with Paul Walsh scoring a hat trick.

I'm pretty sure this is the game on a really warm Saturday in October 1990 which David Barnes was sent off in after he retaliated to Gazza winding him up. Not that it made any difference, we were stuffed out of sight that day with Paul Walsh scoring a hat trick.

He kicked the ball against the advertising hoardings as if he was unhappy with the linesman's decision. Ref Martin Bodenham (also a 1st class cricket umpire) then red carded him

It's not too clear, but I think the footnote says:

"Sheffield United qualified for the Cup semi-final by defeating (Manchester?) City 1-0 at Villa Park yesterday. City contended that they should have been awarded a goal in the second half, declaring the Gough carried the ball over the line, but the above photos prove they were wrong. First picture shows Gough saving out of goal, and the second shows the end of the scrimmage and the goalkeeper, who had clutched the ball, being picked up."

I remember it like it were yesterday!

After leaving the tunnel , then going past Dore train station , i see Millhouses ( ok parts of Abbeydale ) and know Im home .
