2 things ,did anyone else go with their stamp book to the S and E , also to get milk tokens ? and for a real special night out , go to the Zing Vaa ?

Yes to the Zing Vaa, Sitters. Back then it was one of the few restaurants around and we thought it was decent. Looking back now, you realise it was pretty shite.

When I was a student ('hiss, booooo') in the holidays I worked at the Arcade and S&Es all over town. Working on the tills, milk tokens were big business and then woe betide you if you forgot to give some old dear her stamps. Some lovely little old granny would give you the sharp end of her tongue if you didn't give her the correct number. Fair enough, but the sad thing is, like Green Shield stamps, you saved for months to get a full book which when traded in, was worth the square root of bugger all.

The current Co-op loyalty card is the most generous on the high street but things have moved on. People prefer Aldi or Lidl rather than 'The Stores' as the S&E was fondly known.

Different times.

Harsh.

Edward used to buy his meat from BHS because the quality was better than the wholesalers.

Must have dinted his profits as he chased quality?
