For the life of me cannot remember this sponsor. Obviously mid 80's but drawn a blank with me. Can't remember ever seeing anyone wearing a Blades shirt with this sponsor either.
Soz don't know how to attach wording to picture🙊
Simonds, I used to work next door to one of their branches on Tyler Street, Wincobank in the mid eighties.
They supplied bandsaw blades, Saws, etc.
I think it was them?

That era still gives me nightmares. After the loss against Luton, a poster said that it was beyond shite. He was obviously not attending during this era of pitifully poor week in, week out bollocks.
Kids nowadays don’t know what real bollocks is.😳
83-85? We did get promoted in that period. Wouldn't have any of those in my top 10 of bad seasons...

It looks strangely like United are conceding the goal, given the way the Villa player is hooking his foot towards the goal and the expressions on the faces of Addison and Colquhoun.
Villa keeper is John Phillips and defender is Brian Tiler who got killed in a minibus accident at Italy during 1990 World Cup

Yep, American blade that was welded to size in Sheffield. Very average quality.
Slack Sellars were one of two manufacturers of bandsaw blades based in Sheffield in the 80's along with a dozen or so companies such as Simonds that welded blades from coil. There was a huge call for this type of steel cutting in those days which has now all pretty much gone. The Slack Sellars' building is now part of the Kelham Island project.

Fulham 1 Sheffield United 1
18th February 1967
United had three away games in London, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds. Mick Jones scored at Charlton, one at Fulham and one more in the replay at Bramall Lane. His future team mate Allan Clarke was playing for Fulham.
The second half of the game is at
United won the replay 3-1 with Bill Punton having the best game of his life for the Blades. It wasn't Bill Punton's most important goal though ;)
I went on the football special train, which was the trend in those days. There were over 32000 at Craven Cottage.

I've got that same photo of the team. I knew Jim Dixon (bottom right) well. His first love was distance running and he was a regular at our running club. There was a few of us that met at the lane Friday afternoons and go for a run they were great times. He always gave me a couple of tickets and a pass to the players lounge for after the match. It was in the south stand in those days and wasn't very glamorous but I loved rubbing shoulders with Edwards and co

I went to the 5th round game at Stamford Bridge. Hateley scored with a header right in front of me. My question is, was it Mark or Tony Hateley?

The photo above with the legendary Tony Currie in it.is that against West Ham? and is it the legendary Sir Bobby Moore?

Mark was 6 years old at the time.
My grandfather went to the 2-0 Chelsea loss and memory says the way he described Blades performance there seemed a good chance Mark could well have scored.
My uncle, who was with him, said he told the players, returning on the railway 'Football Special' that they had been well below par.
