My mother used to mention Steve Heighway a lot to us as kids. She liked him as a player, and especially for the university degree. I don't think she knew about High Storrs or being a Blades fan, as I would have remembered that.Wanting to meet Marx and Hitler.![]()

My dad had a Wednesdayite cousin who was a bit of a twat and used to boats about being pals with ‘The Bronc’.Yes, Bronco Layne scoring

1. Reckon I could have tapped that one home.
There are several press reports in the 60 Years Ago thread, and none explain what went on. It was probably a mistake by Hodgy, and so traumatic that I have wiped it from my memory. I was on the Kop, so it was a long way away, and there doesn’t seem to be any film of it. A mistery.1. Reckon I could have tapped that one home.
2, What the hell is the goalie doing, showing off his new breakdance routine ?

Do we have any fans who boast about being mates with Hans Segers? My dad had a Wednesdayite cousin who was a bit of a twat and used to boats about being pals with ‘The Bronc’.
Steve Kindon, saw him as a guest speaker a couple of years ago, brilliant after dinner speaker, absolutely hilarious. Not sure if he still does it but if he does and you have the chance, well worth it, one of the best around. We finished 6th that season, got prpmotion the following season. Steve Kindon was a Burnley player at the time, didnt play for Huddersfield until 10 years later. Were you thinking of Frank Worthington?
I seem to remember a game against Huddersfield when he came on as a sub and ripped us a new one.Steve Kindon, saw him as a guest speaker a couple of years ago, brilliant after dinner speaker, absolutely hilarious. I believe a post very early on showed a photo of an elderly lady in a news clipping from Darnall who followed Blades home and away , could it be your grandads sisterDo you know who they are? I remember my grandad telling me forty years ago that his sister followed the Blades everywhere and was given some kind of award or recognition by the club for her loyalty. I’ve since asked my (90 year old) mum about it and she didn’t really know much. I’m just wondering if she is one of these? I suspect not looking at the coach, it seems a bit later. I’ve always assumed from my grandad’s age that it was pre-war. I could be wrong but I think if it was after the war, my mum would know more about it.
As far as I’m aware, she lived in Kimberworth. I’ll see if I can find it though and have a look, ta.I believe a post very early on showed a photo of an elderly lady in a news clipping from Darnall who followed Blades home and away , could it be your grandads sister
Feb 81. 2-0 up with 5 mins to go. Kindon comes on, Huds get a corner and he scores. Last minute, Huds get a corner...you know the rest.I seem to remember a game against Huddersfield when he came on as a sub and ripped us a new one.
Blades fans were chanting "fat b******" when he came on but he soon shut them up!Feb 81. 2-0 up with 5 mins to go. Kindon comes on, Huds get a corner and he scores. Last minute, Huds get a corner...you know the rest.
Of course, if we had hung on for the win, we would have been already safe going into the Walsall game.
1966Not sure if this photo has been seen before but it shows the beginning of the end of the football/cricket era at the Lane and the beginning of the move to a football-only stadium.
You can see the foundations of the Lane end stand and the first section of the BLUT
