Your point about full backs reminded me of Harry Haslam and his penchant for collecting left backs.! At one time I'm sure he played three in the same team,
there was Stuart Houston, Les Tibbott, and Paul Garner.
Stuart Houston was a left back?😨 Was he even a footballer? And some say we are currently seeing our worst signings ever.😉

It was a made in leeds Tetley list. I’m surprised to see Jubilee stout on there, I used to like a bottle of that in the days when they made it.
Played a number of times at The Jubilee Sports Ground, Claywheels Lane against Bass North.
Memorable because the pitches were flat and well maintained and above all a free crate of beer after. Can’t remember if it was Jubilee though.

Tennants were owned by Whitbread, one of the big 5 brewers.

Tetley (and Ind Coope) were owned by Allied.

They never stocked each others beers other than Guinness.

Gold Label was a fifties product created by Tennants before they sold out to Whitbread. Other barley wines existed but were dark in colour.

Both Bass and Whitbread brewed bottled Guinness under licence. Like Whitbread and Stones bitter, they had a different taste. Bass Guinness was slightly more bitter, and was the choice in our family as Sunday dinner time sessions started with a bottle or two. The label designs, tops etc were the same, the only difference being the brewery address at the bottom.

These foresaken days, Guinness West Indies Porter is the mainstay for me.

Yes, 0-1 win for B&B Athletic, giant killing Wolves at Molineux, 1957.
Reg Cutler scored and somehow demolished the goal post.
Spot on XM, think they reached the 6th round before losing to Man U.
Bournemouth are a club I cannot get on with, been in admin twice with large points deductions, had Rednapp and Pullis as managers, changed their strip to look like AC Milan, and to top that changed their name to be alphabetically top League club, made my day when Accrington got back in the league !!!

I found the photo whilst browsing, thinking it would be ideal for this thread, looked up details, though had some small recollection of it's happening.
I agree with what you say about AFCB, what happens when loads of money arrives.
During the '50's my grandfather, my Blades mentor from birth, holidayed in Boscombe end of August time, often missing seasons starts at Lane.
So as to get his football fix would go to watch B&B Athletic. He always told me of these trips so I have a soft spot for B&B Athletic.
