First legal and 'home' for about 7 years. Weaned on Trophy.

There was a group of about 30 of us from Abbeydale and St Pauls, all Blades ,you would always find one of us in there.

To say it was my local ,Ive probably only been in about a dozen times.Looked back open again when I passed last week.

Used to be a good pint of Stones but has been closed/open on and off over the last few years. Haven’t been in for over 10 years and my brother, who was a regular, now goes elsewhere.

Never went in The New Inn so can`t comment on what it was like. The ones on the flats were "character building " for those that frequented them and also for the people who lived in the flats above them.

They weren't that bad in the early seventies. In fact the Link had a busy lunchtime food service, quite upmarket that office workers etc would travel too. That's when Colin was landlord.

I The Cherry Tree is a pub I've never been in. I drive past it occasionally and it looks a run-down God-forsaken hovel of a place. I've often wondered what sort of life-forms frequent it thesedays? Given that you've got decent options within walking distance of there, who in their right mind would drink in there - and why? If there's anyone on in here who is in their right mind, maybe they'll tell us?

A bit nasty that for this generally friendly thread.

When we got the ACV on the Plough a bunch of Cherry Tree regulars and the local councillor got in touch. Genuine locals trying to keep their boozer open.

Not sure why you need to wade in with a character assassination of blokes in a pub you've never been in.

I grew up on the flats in the 80s and saw the decline of the whole area. Tough place to grow up but also a very entertaining one.
