Stood at that bus stop on the left hand side so many times.

As a kid and then as a teenager. If it had been a crap night out it was waiting for the 12.30am bus. A bit better night then it was waiting for the 1.00am bus. A good night then it was waiting in that bloody taxi queue in Fitzalan Square.

For those of Oughtibridge / Wharncliffe side. The White Hart (now a wedding Shop) at the end of the one way system in Oughtibridge. Had my first legal pint in that pub. Don't think I ever stepped foot in it again.

Could be whole new thread Rusty, where you had your first pint. Here's mine, Turf Tavern at Handsworth. And yes, it was pint of Tetley's

I've given you a like for the Opel but you're wrong on the van.

The Bedford Beagle was an adapted estate made from the van and not an official Vauxhall/Bedford model. The van is, as I said, based on the Viva MkI known as HA. When the new viva (HB) came along they didn't change the van, but just stuck with the old one.

I do doth my cap Sir on the Beagle part, however the van in question is a Bedford HA 7cwt.

So we're both right(ish)

I used to go to Granville College in the late 70's early 80's with 3 vehicle apprentices who worked for GPO/Telecom, they hated them but not as much as the "falling over" Commers. My 1st car was an HB.

This is some time pre-WW2. Town Hall top left/centre as a landmark guide. A current photo from the same place would show how much the city centre has been cleared.

Before 1938, as St Paul's church is still there (just to the left of the Town Hall, where the Peace Gardens are.

I remember the Jolly Buffer well. It was a novelty back in the day, being one of the very few "new" pubs in the city.

The Cherry Tree is a pub I've never been in. I drive past it occasionally and it looks a run-down God-forsaken hovel of a place. I've often wondered what sort of life-forms frequent it thesedays? Given that you've got decent options within walking distance of there, who in their right mind would drink in there - and why? If there's anyone on in here who is in their right mind, maybe they'll tell us?
