had to smirk. On Breakfast TV on BBC 1 this morning, the woman who does the sport coverage was showing a glaring miss by some footballer ( didn't catch who it was), then made a reference to famous missed 'sitters', mentioned Ronny Roenthal, and suggested we all could nominate a player we had been guilty of it. Then, moving quickly on to the subject of kicking out racism in football, introduced former Premiership striker, Danny Webber! - you couldn't make it up.

So where's the irony? I don't get it.

Then, separately, they introduced Danny Webber, a man whose missed sitter condemned us to a relagation from which we have not yet recovered. Coincidence certaintly, if not irony.

I'm assuming 1066blade is alluding to Webber's shot that hit the post against Wigan in the last match of the Premier League season. I think.

Ok thanks. I was trying to work out when Danny Webber had been racist. That would have been all kinds of irony!!

I think part of the issue is that (from memory) he turns away in celebration before it’s gone in, but if he had just waited, he could have had a tap in from the rebound.

Which in my recollection was a decent effort, beyond the keeper's reach hits the post and comes out. I don't know why he gets maligned for it.

Just had a recap and it's a hard chance (worse than I remember) he's put through directly in front of the keeper who is quickly out, he flicks it over him and it hits the left post and away. Tantalisingly across in front of him but there was little that he could do (IMO).
