had to smirk. On Breakfast TV on BBC 1 this morning, the woman who does the sport coverage was showing a glaring miss by some footballer ( didn't catch who it was), then made a reference to famous missed 'sitters', mentioned Ronny Roenthal, and suggested we all could nominate a player we had been guilty of it. Then, moving quickly on to the subject of kicking out racism in football, introduced former Premiership striker, Danny Webber! - you couldn't make it up.

Eric Choupo-Moting, it doesn’t easily roll off the tongue, not surprised you missed it. He helped Stoke City to relegation last season, so will always have a place in my heart.

It’s not even really a miss in the usual sense, the ball was on its way into the net and he actively kept it out, almost Pakistan no ball like in its obviousness. As a side irony, his Wikipedia entry describes him as a “composed finisher”.

Last night PSG played Strasbourg and in that game was the worse miss I’ve ever seen, much worse than Ronny Rosanthal’s.

The ball was trickling into the net and the PSG player was stood on the line unmarked.
He could have left it and it’s a goal or tapped it in to score from 1 inch out.

I’ve no idea what he was trying to do but it tapped the ball against the post and it bounced out for the Strasbourg defender to clear.
Must be the worse miss ever....see it for yourself.

Nowhere near the worst miss ever.

It can't even be considered a miss because it wasn't an attempt to score.

He obviously thought that the defender sliding in was going to clear the ball so he had no time to react and the ball has just hit him.

Looked to me like he was going to.attempt some ostentatious drag back with his other foot but miscontrolled it

I'm assuming 1066blade is alluding to Webber's shot that hit the post against Wigan in the last match of the Premier League season. I think.
Which in my recollection was a decent effort, beyond the keeper's reach hits the post and comes out. I don't know why he gets maligned for it.

Let's get an answer once and for all on this: Blades Analytics could you do the honours please?

What would be the xG for Danny Webber to score v Wigan in our relegation from the Prem season?

Edit: the shot that hit the post.

"Thanks Silent! I was at the front of the kop when he missed that. 'Barely two yards out'? He was practically under the bar!"

I was on the Terrace. Oh how we laughed.
