Oh dear: WHU away.

I will retract this simple reason is we have nothing to prove to nobody we were the ones hard done by.

I'm just happy it is not at BDTBL because no doubt a few WHU fans hold that much resentment that they would no doubt come up and take frustrations out of the seats and ground.

I think I have an evening with Photoshop planned ;)

Why either side hates the fans of the other simply for sticking up for their club in an issue that neither had no say in is a great illustration of the illogical nature of football fans. It's like Tesco shoppers hating Sainsburys ones because Sainsburys took Tesco to court for selling orange bags.

Won't somebody please think of the jellied eels...

I'd be well up for this game, has shades of Villa away last season. But it'll be in the week, and I gotta work.

.Who cheated again?

Just so we are clear:

"Having originally stated that they would "vigorously defend" themselves against the charges, West Ham's lawyer, Jim Sturman, admitted the club had broken rule U18, a regulation relating to third-party influence over the policies of a team, and B13, which requires all members of the League to act in good faith.

He also outlined how West Ham's former chief executive, Paul Aldridge, had told Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore "a direct lie" over the existence of contracts detailing how the Argentine players were owned by four offshore companies."

I think we dislike their fans because of how they called us moaning bastards and implied that we should have just accepted their cheating and not tried to get justice.

Seems pathetic but football rivalries are fun, eh?

We've done Aston Villa, Fulham, Charlton, Nottingham etc. in the last 12 months and gave Hull a good run at Wembley.

Clough is a big game manager and he'll have the players fired up for this one.

I recon this could even be the catalyst for the rest of our season, as was the FA cup run previously.

I'm not really fussed that it's West Ham to be honest. I was bored by the whole Tevez & Mascherano (why does he never get mentioned?) saga at the time and it interests me even less now that it is so long ago. Let's leave it where it belongs; in the past.

I'm surprised they are still so het up by it all. Talk about dwelling on something. At least they've not got to endure league games against Crawley, Leyton Orient, Doncaster and the like.

Let's just enjoy the fact we've got an away day at a Premier League team and hope for another Fulham/Villaesque performance and occasion.

I don't hate them. Their board were crooks and I think everyone accepts that. They probably hate the same board that left them in the shit before the dildo salesmen took them on.

I honestly can't muster any sense of resentment towards fans who had nothing to do with the incident. If they came up and kicked off a-la Millwall the other year then I'd hate their fans. But they didn't so I don't.

As for the game, if we can restrict them and piss them off like we did in the fa cup run I can imagine their fans getting agitated and getting at fat Sam. If we can do that then we have a chance. Sadly no chance of me getting to London midweek so don't think our following will be anything like we could muster on a Saturday for the proper cup.

Oh, I get it. I can't tell you exactly what it is that I hate about Wednesday but I do!

I'd be much more up for this if it was a league game but a Carling Cup game that will are almost certain to lose against a team of Premiership reserves just doesn't get me going. I don't hate West Ham enough for it to mean anything to me

I am genuinely amazed how excited their fans are. They seem to think hammering us, a third division club who are expected to get hammered, will be some of justice and will leave us all crying.

Whatever happened to this fresh joint inquiry into West Ham's further conduct after they were fined £5.5M (I.e. The verbal agreements and "oral cuddles" that allowed Tevez to continue playing)
I've scoured the Internet in vein for the outcome.
It just seems to have been quietly swept under the carpet.
I know they weren't punished further but does anybody know what the official ruling was?

Saw one proper geezer talking about Tevez masks being cheap to buy - didn't think they bought their players; they just said they did so money is material.

Living down here and knowing lots of West Ham fans frankly they're embarrassed. They cheated, got a slap on the wrists, and everyone knows it. Their club has had a certain stench about it since which it didn't have before and it bothers them. They should blame the crooks who were in charge at their club (and make no mistake, that Icelandic slaphead and the fella Duxbury got plenty of stick from the Hammers fans) but they don't like us for blowing the whistle on them.

I think some sort of Scousers-for-Heysel style apology from them before kick off might pour some oil on troubled waters.

Some pathetic comments surfacing on the internet from West Ham fans at the minute. Stuff such as "I have been waiting to get my hands on these for years" and "They won't come down and if they do they won't ever come down again" Pathetic the lot of em and same goes for any Blades fans stupid enough to go down for the aggro!

If any of the idiots are intent on scrapping I just hope they do it away from the ground and the match. Families and kids will be attendance and don't deserve to have the experience ruined by idiots!

Not the impression I get from reading their message boards.
The majority view seems to be that we somehow cheated them out of £25M.
E.g. "Smash those lying, deceitful northern bastards out of the cup"

Great idea. I might even sign up on their forum and suggest it.

A big banner on their kop saying "Sorry for Cheating" would be apt. Personal apologies from Russel Brand and Ray Winstone in the match programme. And Martin Samuel should be forced to walk round the touchline before kick off, naked apart from a sandwich board with the words "lying hack" on one side and "fat twat" on the other.
