Ogbene

I thought he did more today than usual. One of the problems we have is that Ogbene and Seriki get in each other's way.

We have nothing at all coming from our wings on either side whether it's Brooks, Ogbene or Barry, so it's futile playing a winger at all. Seriki, Burrows or McCallum may as well do that in which case we'll have to play three at the back and we haven't got three centre backs of sufficient level either - we've just about got one.

I never blame players for not being good enough, they can't help that, so I'm not going to criticise Ogbene as long as he appears to be doing the best he can.

The most frustrating thing about watching this team is what looks like a lack of cohesion both at the back and going forwards. Do we have an attacking method? I can't make out what it is.

Oh for a bloody coach.

I agree Kozzy. At least he's willing to take a man on and try and get to the byline.

I just remember one good cross, and then the rest of the time he was giving Seriki hospital passes.

Alan Woodward, Gil Reece and Colin Morris would be spinning in their graves, were they all dead.

Franz Carr, Alan Roberts and even JCR, similarly.

He's on a par with Starbug, Woodford, Hendrie and all the other wage stealing non-wingers we have endured.

Biggest fraud in the team out of a squad full of them. Yes, he actually put one decent cross when he first came on today, but that was very much an anomaly and he then reverted to type of being no threat whatsoever. Garbage. Would rather have Tony McMahon back on the right hand side and crossing the ball every time he got over half way.

What has happened to his pace? This was only two years ago. He wouldn't even take on tired QPR centre backs tonight. I was expecting him to be much much more explosive than he is, but he's been a disappointing loan which is a shame because he seems like a genuinely lovely bloke!

He's strange for a winger

He has a good football brain and all round awareness, but is not willing or able to execute moves to try and create things

Looks like he's totally lost confidence in his pace. I've not seen him beat anyone cleanly down the outside yet, he wouldn't even try to outpace Cook(?) on that counter today

He kills attacks stone dead on that side time and again

He should only be used as a RWB with the creative burden placed elsewhere
Even stranger when ROI play him at Left Back. On the note of other posts everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is what this platform is for. For me he has picked out crosses from the byline, a good opportunity today, away at Oxford to get onto that cross too for the goal (short memories for some). It could well be the case that when/if he has the option to beat his man how many people are making themselves available for him, he can only play a ball in if the ball is there to be played. He has lost some pace after the injury he picked up but I can think of far worse performances by other players that don’t get mentioned or if they do are brushed off.

That was before his injury. when you see a highlights reel of him you can tell he did have pace

Relegation player, absolutely hideous

Seen people complaining about him being targeted as a scapegoat - do they have any concept of how bad a player has to be to consistently stand out as a weak link in a team marooned in the bottom three of a championship?

Add to the fact that Bindon, Godfrey, Matos and Barry weren’t even in the squad today. This summers transfer window will go down in Blades folklore, surely the worst ever.

Agree wholeheartedly. And with the coaching. Patterns of play are so hard to distinguish when watch us.

I and a few others have mentioned, I'd play Ogbene centrally in a front two. That's when he was at his most prolific for Rotherham. Shoot on sight, pass and move, take on your man.

Has had a serious injury which will have knocked his pace down. Similar to RND. He looked immense before the injuries. A shell of the player he were developing into.

I wouldn't mind seeing to be fair. In his highlight reels he scored more headers than I expected too. Then it means we can rest Campbell (it's more polite than saying drop Campbell) ans if teams double up on Ogbene it could even give Cannon time and space to actually touch the ball.

To be fair to Ogbene he has set up some good chances, one particularly that Campbell should have scored from I think v Derby. We're also slow at getting numbers into the box so are usually outnumbered there.
I saw him quite a bit in his early days at Rotherham when he played as a winger and he was fast and strong and their best player.
I'm sure he has lost some of his pace but also feel our style doesn't play to his strengths.
Our slow side to side build up usually ends up when we do pass to him being a squarish long pass from midfield and is directly to him, so he is usually static when he receives the ball with a defender closing him down. When he was at Rotherham they used to play the ball for him to run onto either over the full backs head or inside him causing the defender to turn at which point Ogbene was up to speed and outpacing him.
It's just another example of us trying to make the players fit the system instead of the other way round.

We have become a graveyard for attacking players. The way we play, nobody’s going to look good.

I thought , playing him as a winger he put in some lovely crosses . Watch the extended highlights back . He also screwed up but he , as most of this fragile squad are , need confidence.

The Dutch kid also played much much better I thought

Signs ??
