Im not sticking up for them, this is a genuine question, which signings do we actually attribute to the scouting team?
The foreign ones seem to be AI, the Selles ones had ties to him already, and the Wilder ones are completely his type of players.

Paul Mitchell,who I know and was sacked by Wilder says it’s the scouting ‘network’ or if you don’t have them,what’s the point of a scout ? The couple of Al’s were a ‘new’ idea from both the board and scouts to take on board and binned quicker than Barry and Bindon were from the first team . The Wilder type of players aren’t doing a deal either or am I seeing things that some want to see ?

Bettis said the ai had to say yes/have a look at everything. Loans mostly Selles given more freedom though

When we signed Ogbene we must have thought we were signing the Rotherham United version, that is direct with good pace passed the full back and crosses in. Very seldom has he done this and I never thought he looked comfortable with his fitness always expecting some problem to occur. Obviously I'm very disappointed for him and us, however if he knew there was a potential issue why didn't this get picked up on his pre signing medical ? We were advised that one of our owners was very switched on with health and fitness issues. Was it just a case in typical United fashion, at the last minute before the window shut we just waved him in and said he'll be allreight . Amateurs running a multi million pound football club. And as the advert goes not just some football club but mine and yours. Utb

Cant help but think that he was (as he has had recent injury issues prior to us bringing him in) a last minute panic signing. Probably not that much available that we fancied as we had done our usual trick and left things far too late in the day to do our business. Leave things to long and others in turn (who you are buying or loaning from) are only giving away waifs, strays and players on injury rehab as they in turn dont want to be letting their better players go so late in the window when they cant source a replacement. Well, they will, but they want a premium fee for it, which kind of negates Bettis arguement about leaving things to the latter end of the window for more value. Works with quality loans from the PL. Doesnt work with trying to source better players on a permanent basis.

In the summer, United were desperate to do their business. Got too choosy and held off. Passed up multiple chances to use perfectly adequate toilets, some even came with handwash and quilted bog roll. Not good enough. Thought was 'hang on until we get one with heated toilet seats and piped music'. Before we knew it, theyd shit themselves. Only United.
