3.5 year deal just confirmed on radio pig.

Keith Edwards says why would you have a Merc outside a terrace house. Like keeffff but today your a knob
It's a lot of money but I can't think of any other (realistic) signing that would have such a net positive effect for the club as a whole.

Really good news, could be a real 'pick me up' for the squad.

Don't want to be negative but given the fee and presumably the wages, I would have liked to see us focus on a scorer. Defence wise as we proved again the other night, we are pretty tidy, however, it's goals we need [same as last year] and I would have liked to see a real striker.

Still good news and lets hope Mr McC and NC and his team have other irons in the fire.

Whilst JCR has been phenominal of late, Flynn on the right wing again is another option now. He was at his very best in a Blades shirt towards the end of last season with Brayford overlapping and supporting him.

Great news - hopefully he will have the same effect as last season. I only fear that he's been built up so much that he'll find it very difficult to live up to expectations.

Some may not agree but United have done very well in the transfer window. If we could get O'Grady (or equivalent) then it will be a job very well done by the board. It's then up to Clough to ensure the players deliver.

Still think we need to sign cog and a couple of decent loan signings one pacy striker and a coady type midfielder

Amazing!!!

I bet some still find a way to slag the club off though!!!

It will indeed be interesting (perhaps even funny) to see how some posters respond to this. After all, I'm sure I have at various times read on here that we have a board that has no ambition and they never stump up the cash to support the manager in the transfer market so that he can make decent signings. And we are repeatedly informed that regardless of the partial change in ownership in 2013 there has not been and never will be any significant financial investment in this club.

I must therefore assume that Brayford was acquired on a free transfer and has agreed a wage deal of £200 per week.

Amazing how 24 hours can turn years of misery on its head. Let's not rewrite history because we have had some awful transfer windows but this really does seem like we are starting afresh. I have been one to be scathing of the lack of ambition from the board previously. I am pleased to have my argument knocked into a cocked hat. The game has changed and it is utterly clear that Clough totally has the support and backing of the board.

Now Clough has nowhere to go if we aren't successful. He has almost all the players, he has investment above any other club in this division and he now has to prove he can assemble the team to win games in the league.

I am very happy to have been proved wrong. I am very happy to think that the last 24 hours shows everyone at SUFC is pulling in the same direction. As fans I think we all have to respond and do the same.

Great post and my thoughts entirely.

Think they've realised holding back funds for Ched or do nothing options are dead so have decided to go for it. Shame that filthy Welsh get held us back so long!

Time to do away with the special Ched page, this is a new start for SUFC ditch Ched once and for all Mods

I just hope that the people who keep coming on here, complaining about the ones moaning due to lack of ambition, realise why these people have had concerns and recognise that these concerns have been finally put to bed for the foreseeable future.Lets just hope that gets appreciated as we have quite clearly lacked ambition for quite a while now.

I'll finish with this,as i see this question very plausible now but i don't want some people to think it's a negative in anyway. Why didn't we get the right players in at the start of the season if the money was always there?
