Was a challenge i'd expect from Soumare, but at least Soumare would have done more on the ball, didn't see anything from Rothwell even before the foul. Not a good first impression

It was an utterly pathetic debut but he's signed on for 18 months so no point writing him off just yet.
I remembered he was a permanent rather than a loan after I posted. Saw it twice on TV. Didn't look like any attempt at a tackle. Most generous take is 'a rush of blood to the head'. Wilder just dropped his head.

What frustrates me me is that McCallum gets injured in a reckless challenge at Millwall that should have been a penalty but because he got a shot away in the area it’s passed over. Outside the area that’s a red as the impact is studs up and out of control and on the ankle. Those of us at a certain age know that a scythe from the side, on the shin pad, is not that dangerous. An impact which is in opposite direction to the forward movement of the limb is.

OK my football started in the 70s and that changes my perspective. That wouldn’t have been anywhere near a red in those days. It may have been a booking but nothing more. I feel Hackney’s challenge on Tanganga was more dangerous as he had studs up in opposition to Tanganga’s forward moment. Didn’t even get a yellow.

Yes, in the context of the game today, that won’t be allowed and Rothwell was impetuous, but I still maintain that is not as dangerous as a stamp or studs up with a straight leg.

Ridiculous thing from him, it's not even his game at all to be doing that sort of thing

Now thanks to that ban it'll take another month for him to get up to speed

I thought we improved in what little time he and Phillips were together too

Agree him and Phillips completely changed the dynamics and control of their midfield

Shouldn't pull on the shirt again. Wasn't misjudged. Looked deliberate.
Give ya head a wobble, I know emotions were high and it was frustrating game, but it was just a mistimed challenge. There was no malice in that, he went full blooded on reach just too slow to ball.

Was it a stupid challange? Yes. He didnt need to make it and it was a time we was getting back on top.

It was a ridiculous, unprofessional, moronic challenge that was completely unnecessary and ruined or chance of getting something out of the game.

I don't think he was trying to hurt anyone though, he just got caught up in the moment. The crowd was loud, the energy was up, and he wanted to make an impression on the fans. A few years ago he would've smashed through the ball and the crowd would have loved it but he was just a bit rusty/slow and smashed the man instead.

I think Roys uncovered comments from Rangers tell you all you need to know about the risk taken with him and the tackle and red confirms that.
He’s not up to speed
He’s been playing in the Scottish Prem. It’s nowhere near the same level as the Champ. We need experience in the squad. The lad was really effective for Leeds last season.
How on earth is that a flawed decision?
If Jairo had been fit then Rothwell would have had more time to get up to speed.

Bit no, blame Wilder 😂😂😂😂😂

🤪

Fucking bastard, trying to win the ball back, showing he cares and mistimed a tackle that didn't even see their player rolling around. Needs to apologise to the fans, pay for everbody's ticket and buy everyone a beer before the next game. Last thing we need is players who try, we need fucking spineless little tarts who roll over...or some of you appear to think we do.

What you on about ! Confirms what?

“indicative of most run of the mill jobbers from England thinking they’re better than what’s up here. He’s wrong. A complete nothing.”

“Awful player who doesnt look interested. Another who thought he would come up to Scotland to an easy life.”

“A testament to how overrated the championship is. 36 games last season in a Leeds side that walked the league. He wouldn’t be a starter in the Hearts or taigs squad and I imagine a few other teams in the league.”

“Promoted two years running and neither of the clubs signed him, it’s no surprise he’s useless”

“He’s been a disgrace”

“A fat, lazy disgrace.”

“15k a week he’s apparently on.
Disgraceful.”

“Lazy, slow, nonentity of a player. Division one Down South at best.
An embarrassment for a so called athlete/professional player. “

“Another disaster
Another prick “

“Somehow came on and looked slower than the players that had been playing all game”

“Slothwell.”

“a fraud”

“There’s nothing to him – he just doesn’t do anything”

“Made of marshmallow. Gets bullied off the ball by folk half his size.”

“He isn’t fit. It’s clear as day”

“Fitness would help him.”

“Clearly not physical or fit enough to play up here.”

“Hes been extremely underwhelming but the fact he clearly isnt fit doeasnt help.”

“He is in really bad shape.
Hes also the wrong side of 30 and the decline is clearly setting in to make matters worse.”

“an out of shape has been trying to fool himself that he can play.”

“I got called out by several folk for describing him as no more than a steady Eddie, based on what I’d seen of him for Leeds.
Looked ok as a makeweight in a team/squad that was topping the league & surrounded by better players than the rest of the division, bossing most games.
Enough evidence now to show that calling him a steady Eddie was polite, at best.
Hasn’t got what it takes to be a force in a Rangers midfield.”

“Looks ‘ok’ when flanked by better players.
Struggling when he’s meant to be the ‘better player'”

“Surrounded by good players he would probably do fine – he is tidy enough with the ball – but he is incapable of forcing the issue if expected to be the main man.
He doesn’t really do anything 1000s of players out there couldn’t do, majority of which wouldn’t be on 15k a week”

“Great payer in the championship though. And every English guy’s nan could get a game in Scotland, so obviously championship boys all stroll it up here.”

“Hes useless, that championship must be seriously poor if he stood out.”

“it seems a case of a good player who just can’t handle the responsibility of playing for us”

This is from a Scottish Premiership team's fans, who have watched him play in a division allegedly parallel to the division below us in capability.

Really hope he enjoys his three games on sat in the stands, Tonight was the work of a moron and will not endear him to the supporter base who were relying on a full team battling back against a very capable opposition and sustaining the home undefeated run.

And yes, it was a red, every day of the week.

You certainly have a bee in your bonnet about Rothwell. !!

I thought he was less effective than Arblaster had been and that’s saying something. I don’t understand why a professional footballer has to ‘get up to speed’ in order to pass the ball to a team mate tbh, but maybe I’m expecting too much ? He looked awful but at least he’s now got an extra three weeks to ‘get up to speed’

It was a blatant red card, it looked like one of those deliberately rash tackles that players make when they fancy having Christmas off. (Not in February obviously, but you get the idea 🙄)

Wasn’t even a red. Just gave the cheat ref an opportunity to stop any comeback

Brooks post match interview. He's a bit camera shy and from the O'hare school of using 100% at the start of every sentence. Lovely and humble lad.

Less effective than Arblaster, are you joking? I was more effective than Arblaster from row N! This is the man who has had 4 months to get up to speed. And still looks like a geriatric.
