I thought Rothwell looked far better than Arblaster until the sending off. Has he got a track record for red cards? I think he was probably just bring overzealous trying to make a passionate first impression.
The first thing he did was pass the ball to their player, then he passed a few to ours and then got sent off. I’m not seeing the ‘far better’ bit.

For an experienced professional it should have seemed obvious we were getting on top of them.
The took 2 strikers off a few mins before and looked like they were happy to try and soak up the pressure for 15 mins.
It felt like more chances would come, they still did after the sending off but it killed the momentum.
You can forgive a kid for doing that, losing his head in the heat of it all, but not someone with that level of experience. The tackle didn't eed to be made.
Same as Tommy Doyle's, he rightly got stick for it, so should Rothwell.
Not going to judge him on 20 mins football, he did some decent things before the red card I thought. But the head loss is a worry.

My PNE mate said Rothwell always had a bit of a thing when he was at Blackburn ( and Browne at PNE) so it didn't surprise me he didnt pull out of the challenge at all.
Probably true. But he should be more professional than that and read where the game was at for us (we had half a chance of getting back into it).
He let everyone down.
Hopefully Reiderweld, Peck and Phillips will be the first 3 options for a while now anyway. Giving Rothwell some benefit of the doubt, he needs a good 6 or so games at U21 to get back into the rhythm. As does Blaster. Maybe we'll have the chance to do that now and it will help everyone.

You certainly have a bee in your bonnet about Rothwell. !!

Hang on. Me?

The bloke was on for twenty odd minutes and went straight through one of theirs and finished what was a pretty hopeful spell we'd equalise against one of the best teams in the division, getting himself sent off in the process. Even if he thought he was just getting a yellow, it's hardly a glorious debut, is it? And given the Rangers fans think he was a bit rubbish, and loads of other Blades are giving him pelters, is it just me who has a bee in hos bonnet?

To some it seams it wasn't a career ending tackle to the opponent just himself.

It was daft and reckless but let's define his blades career over it .

Blimey .

Maybe. As soon as the final whistle blew I posted. I was furious. I've looked at the incident again and I can't call it a tackle as Rothwell was nowhere near the ball and in my opinion he didn't even attempt to tackle. He just took him out. And it wasn't like he needed to, to prevent a goal. Soumare's at Charlton was a mistimed tackle. Yet the Charlton defender was badly injured and the Boro player got up. So I accept I overreacted. But it doesn't excuse Rothwell. He's got off to a bad start. Let's draw a line under it.

OK! Some others as well as you.

Rothwell looked better once Phillips was on the pitch but stupid challenge to make when we were on top.

This has not come as a shock to me that our fans are writing a player off based on 34 minutes of play. A rash decision yes, a red card? maybe. Let him get up to match fitness and if he's minging then, then feel free to go in all guns blazing, but lay off for now eh?

“indicative of most run of the mill jobbers from England thinking they’re better than what’s up here. He’s wrong. A complete nothing.”

“Awful player who doesnt look interested. Another who thought he would come up to Scotland to an easy life.”

“A testament to how overrated the championship is. 36 games last season in a Leeds side that walked the league. He wouldn’t be a starter in the Hearts or taigs squad and I imagine a few other teams in the league.”

“Promoted two years running and neither of the clubs signed him, it’s no surprise he’s useless”

“He’s been a disgrace”

“A fat, lazy disgrace.”

“15k a week he’s apparently on.
Disgraceful.”

“Lazy, slow, nonentity of a player. Division one Down South at best.
An embarrassment for a so called athlete/professional player. “

“Another disaster
Another prick “

“Somehow came on and looked slower than the players that had been playing all game”

“Slothwell.”

“a fraud”

“There’s nothing to him – he just doesn’t do anything”

“Made of marshmallow. Gets bullied off the ball by folk half his size.”

“He isn’t fit. It’s clear as day”

“Fitness would help him.”

“Clearly not physical or fit enough to play up here.”

“Hes been extremely underwhelming but the fact he clearly isnt fit doeasnt help.”

“He is in really bad shape.
Hes also the wrong side of 30 and the decline is clearly setting in to make matters worse.”

“an out of shape has been trying to fool himself that he can play.”

“I got called out by several folk for describing him as no more than a steady Eddie, based on what I’d seen of him for Leeds.
Looked ok as a makeweight in a team/squad that was topping the league & surrounded by better players than the rest of the division, bossing most games.
Enough evidence now to show that calling him a steady Eddie was polite, at best.
Hasn’t got what it takes to be a force in a Rangers midfield.”

“Looks ‘ok’ when flanked by better players.
Struggling when he’s meant to be the ‘better player'”

“Surrounded by good players he would probably do fine – he is tidy enough with the ball – but he is incapable of forcing the issue if expected to be the main man.
He doesn’t really do anything 1000s of players out there couldn’t do, majority of which wouldn’t be on 15k a week”

“Great payer in the championship though. And every English guy’s nan could get a game in Scotland, so obviously championship boys all stroll it up here.”

“Hes useless, that championship must be seriously poor if he stood out.”

“it seems a case of a good player who just can’t handle the responsibility of playing for us”

This is from a Scottish Premiership team's fans, who have watched him play in a division allegedly parallel to the division below us in capability.

Really hope he enjoys his three games on sat in the stands, Tonight was the work of a moron and will not endear him to the supporter base who were relying on a full team battling back against a very capable opposition and sustaining the home undefeated run.

And yes, it was a red, every day of the week.
Because Scottish keyboard warriors just LOVE signing English players, right? 😂
