Now is the time for Clough to go

On the plus side:

We've had great cup runs
He's bought in some quality players, but they aren't the players to get us out of this league. He's still shopping for Championship type players
Despite the last post, we're in the play-off spots
He's brought players here we would not have got without a Clough

I believe a change would be beneficial, Clough is unable to take any critical comments from either the crowd, the players or the directors. I wouldn't mind being where we are if we were positive at least at home but its painful to watch.

He will not change as he believes he's right, he has his father's stubbornness without any of his talent. Get rid now while there's still a chance this season, give Morgan a chance with the promise of a contract if he does well.

Sack our manager in the closing stages of a promotion campaign give the job to Morgan, temporarily? Great idea. We haven't tried that before. Sounds like a stroke of genius.

Then, if we don't go up, we can start the search for a new manager in June. Barnsley's ex manager's got a great record in the lower leagues - why not go for him?

You sir are a fool.

You lot happy with another season in league 1 then.

He signed Mcnulty and as spent most of the time slagging him off.

Signed Butler got rid of before giving him a chance. He as obviously thrown his teddy out with Collins, I'm sure he could have helped us out defence tonight when we conceeded 2 poor goals. We heave a big problem with not being able to keep a clean sheet and not creating enough unlike most of rival around us. We've been fortunate tonight that the others have lost but some of the ones below are creating up on us.

Can anyone honestly think this team can win in the play offs

Lets stick with Clough . I am also pissed off after last nights performance . We can level a boat load of criticism at both Clough and the players , but at the end of the day , do we want to be shouting for the managers head . Not IMO . SUFC suits Clough and Clough suits SUFC . Lets not go through the rigmarole of sacking a manager and starting the process all over again.

Some of the players do need a kick up the arse . It is refreshing that Clough gives us no bull shit or spin.

We have no idea of the Collins or Butler situation - although a bit bizarre - Clough is the gaffer , end of story.

Can anyone honestly think this team can win in the play offs - yes they can and will.

We are all getting techie and uptight , quite rightly so . We have to pay for the privilege . But things have to be put in perspective .

Going through a learning curve , and being in the play offs , and winning them , ain't bad for a shit season - wait and see.

This looks like your first message on this forum Jedi and so we'll have to forgive you for uttering total bollocks.

Somehow, I feel confident that when/if we win on Saturday, there will be a thread about how the autos can still be ours for the taking. Until we next drop points when this thread will start up again. We been playing average and getting the rub of the green? Yes, against other average sides who didn't. And then an average side took their chances against us on Tuesday. Am quite sure the teams not in the play off positions look up the table at us and would swap. Am not saying we going to get to autos, or definitely be in the play offs and there are many valid points in this threads. But please Ladies and Gentlemen, some perspective.

Clough will be here until the end of the season at least, there is no doubt in my mind about that. But it isn't a completely rediculous suggestion to sack him at this stage. Wednesday and Huddersfield showed that a change of manager can work.

Yes, its my first post because I'm pissed off with turning up and within 10 mins of sideways backwards passing wishing I hadn't. I spent my latter teenage years watching Dave Bassett's team attack, there was very little football but at least you came away thinking the team had given 100%. How many times can you honestly say that's been the case this season? Pissing about in the cups is only useful if you get enough money to buy decent players Brayford aside we haven't done that.

Clough believe's he's much better than he is, the fact is he can't adapt when things aren't going our way and doesn't listen to advice, we're far to predictable and are easy to play against. We might make the playoffs we might not, but long term he's not right for the club.

It's probably mentioned elsewhere in the 4 pages on this thread, but it's great to see Nigel Clough being nominated for manager of the month in February. Just goes to show he's not only a very good manager in the cup, but also the league.

Hopefully he'll be at the helm for many more years to come

Ah, so winning in February is important after all......

Regardless of what people think about NC and his performance, I can't believe we're even having this discussion. Not that I want/don't want a change, it's more like any replacement would be - like the majoirity of managers - fucking useless and unemployable in any other 'results-based' industry.

That's why 44 of these idlers have been given the chop in the top 4 divisions this season - they obviously interview better than they perform. Oh sure, the law of averages dictates that some will put together the odd decent run but it doesn't make them good managers.

It's like saying 'Who would you replace the present Government with? Labour? Lib Dems?'

Ha ha funnily enough I was just thinking about that thread in the March april thread.

As I said all those years back, you don't rely on February to turn your season around....it's too unpredictable

first division 3 times.. down to the fourth.. six years in the third 8 ? playoffs lost every one.. five ? semi finals..lost every one.. it's been a reight laugh :D

Shouldn't have joined if you couldn't take a joke :)

So 1 loss after a run which saw him nominated for Manager of the Month and we want him sacked? Well done Blades, you make me proud!

Wow

This really is the pinnacle of managerial achievements.

His first nomination all season?
Whoopey dee! wow one nomination up against 4 others (one who played 5 won 5 scored ten conceded nil )
.
Huge achievement a nomination, does that get us into Europe?

What did someone say earlier about a sense of perspective.

ahha - I see the inquest is still goiing on - all in the name of free speech.

Really don't believe some people - jedi a blade? - yeah right, excuse me for being cynical

We lost a game 1-2 that we could have won 2 nil with 1 decent pass - the fact we didn't deserve to win is another matter, but that's football.

I just dispair at times.

Will pop back tomorrow to see if we have "moved on" to look at the Fleetwood game.

i'm still waiting for the highs :)
What about all the great first division games 71-75, Darlington, Leicester, Premier Bassett days, all the quarter finals, hooli times 70s/80s come it aint been all bad fella

A change of manager for us in April 2013 didnt work

You just have to accept that the venting of extreme emotional anguish on a message board has a cathartic effect. Cheaper than a visit to a psychoanalyst.

Yes I am a blade and feel I have right to respond to a thread called 'Now is the time for Clough to go' sorry for having an opinion different from yours. Give me a ring before the election in may and I'll make sure I vote the same as you.
