Was It!

Looking at the team that started I feared the worst.

How many goals have those starting players scored this season anyone?

:(

That was piss poor and to be fair Watford were just as bad.

What the hell was Robson doing going 4-5-1 ? When we were the most likely to score.

Robson is a fucking tit and has to go NOW!

He decided that instead of 0 goals Billy Sharp.... he'd try Carney and Martin pushing alongside Hulse.

They didn't sit back and play a normal 4-5-1 unless we were under pressure.

Didn't work, but the pairing had more goals in it than what was on the bench.

Was worried about Martin... he's picked up a knock on his ankle that was causing him some hassle in the second half.

Naysmith's exact quote when he nearly had his leg broken was "Fucking hell Morgs".

Martin pinched my mints!

I said "bloody hell Martin"

Speaking of mints... there was some right sweetie action around me today :D

Haribos, soft mints and mint imperials were being passed around all over the place!

Big up the Gangway D massive!

Actually Sharp has scored just not in the league.

For what its worth Sharp may aswell leave.

Forver banging on about Robbo having to leave 'NOW' after every draw or loss is quite pointless, Mc'cabe has made his choice to atleats keep him till the season is out and basically, we either like it or lump it. A scrappy match but not a bad result against a team like Watford and the away form that they are in. No one really shinced tonight neither, but y'know

The game was poor lets face it, and at half time I was hoping we would come out better which we did.

Carney made a big difference when he came on, but I just can't defend Robbo on the switch with Stretch and Shelton. I just don't think it was a good idea at all, and so it proved to be.

Thought it was a poor game between 2 poor teams.

For their goal, if Morgan actually wanted to win the ball and not try and take out Kabba, it would have never happened. Although it was a terrible pass by Naysmith aswell.

We were crap in the first half but when Carney came on at half time it changed the game, we looked alot better and the midfield was more balanced. It wasn't great by any means but we looked alot more dangerous.

I'm at a loss to explain the 3rd substitution, I know Sharp hasn't scored and I'm not his biggest fan but I would have had 2 strikers on the pitch at that point, we had the momentum and the crowd were lifted looking for the second goal, but that sub lost all momentum in the game unfortunately, it made it look like we were happy with a point which is why I think people booed, don't think they would have otherwise.

People did boo Tonge, and as much as I don't rate him that's unacceptable.

Thought Ehiogu had a good game to say it was his first, really impressed.

Still, it's another point on the board and we just need to turn these home draws into wins, because we've drawn against some poor sides at home this year and Watford were nothing out of the ordinary.

thought bromby had a shocker today, and i wasn't impressed with ugo in the first half either

To be fair to Bromby, the lad continues to stress that he isn't a full back but our lack of options means that he has to fill in.

He did struggle yesterday but he has been very good at centre back lately, especially against Manchester City and so i think any criticism of him when he is playing out of position is very harsh.

I still think that it would be in Bromby's best interests to move on as i think it is unlikely the lad will get a continued run at centre back.

I thought Morgan, Bromby, Hendrie and Hulse were awful last night.
Quinny tried but got muscled out of it in the first half - better in the second. Shelton continues to frustrate.
Carney was excellent.
Seems that when players are left out, their first game back is a real gutsy display and then they sink into going through the motions.

Not great to see Hendrie and Naysmith arguing like hell but I suppose at least they're showing some passion :(

Was also disappointed with Speed. Was hoping he'd be more of a presence in the middle and help motivate those around him but it seemed that role fell to Squinny.

Could see what Robson was thinking with the 3rd sub (3-pronged attack) but it just didn't work. The way Hulse is playing I would definitely have gone with Sharp up with him.

Completely different side it seems last night doesn't it. One of our worst performances of the season id say - boring.

Im still baffled with the 4-5-1 decision. Yeah Sharp might not have scored, but leaving him on the bench wont get him a goal either will it?

I still don't think it was particularly 4-5-1.... Carney and Martin were pushing on to support Hulse in a 4-3-3.

Armstrong added some pace and effort and often pushes forward well.

Could see exactly what he was trying to do, it didn't work, but it took balls to try it.

Especially given a sniff of any possibility of 4-5-1 and people start chucking their toys out of the pram.

Seems like we desperately need cover at right back, as Geary isn't going to be fit all season and Bromby is woefully inadequate at full-back.

Robson should try to address this with transfers before midnight tomorrow; and if we can't find anyone, at least have a look at the youth lads/reserves.

I can play right back, if I get my full fitness up, I'd be a right assett to the squad :D

Got a long throw on me, can cross and can win headers. My shooting can be rather wayward though.

and yet people said we shouldn't be looking at Bardsley?

at least we'd have had a right back available last night, rather than making Bromby play in a position he doesn't want to.

I'm hoping Geary manages plenty of games for the rest of the season, we certainly need him! :)

Yeah think he's done something to his knee. Not sure though....

and yet people said we shouldn't be looking at Bardsley?

I think it was more £2 million said we shouldn't be looking at Bardsley. Don't know much about other clubs but I'm sure there must be someone equally as good knocking around in either the Championship or League 1 for a much smaller price.

Maybe another elder statesman to come in for one last contract? Lee Dixon on a 6-month loan deal from Football Focus?

Thing that gets me about everyone shouting for Sharp to come on was set in stone when we played at piggery.

Bloke behind me in first half "GET BILLY ON"!!!!!
Billy comes on.
Same bloke behind me half way through second half "You're shite, Billy - get off this field, you're shit"!!!!

Never happy. It's alright calling for Billy to come on, but he just can't score so what's the point? Shelton rarely manages a full 90mins so he's always bound to come off at some point.

I think Hulse has lost his scoring power since breaking his legs though.

Big up the Gangway D massive!

Where were you sat then last night? i didnt smell any of those you mentioned.......... I was on gangway D row E 84

seriously though we played better in the second half, but still no where near the standard from sunday.

Hendrie was dire, and thank god Robson had the forsight to take him off and put carnie on. Carnie looked to have been given a more free role, drifting through the midfield. Speed looked good although he was put in some very stupid situations by us just passin the ball to him without thinking.

Ugo looked tired in the first half, so i dont know what he had at half time, but the second half he did look more awake. not sure that he will be a full time answer though. for me there looked to be a little friction on the pitch between him and Morgan.

As i was sat so close last night i did find myself listeniong to Robson and his comments on what was happening. I thought it very interesting that alot of what he was saying was no different to what a lot of other people are also saying (ie: Runs into the box, passing it forward into space, chasing the ball down, pressing onto attacking players). Now I'm still not convinced that he knows what his best team is, but I got the impression last night that the players just arent listening to him at all, and by that i mean no respect for him, and therefore not listening to the instructions he is issuing.

hmmmmm

I think it was more £2 million said we shouldn't be looking at Bardsley.

Therein lies the problem. Bardsley was never going to be satisfied being a squad player, and he simply wasn't as good as Geary when Geary is fit. £2m is a lot for backup. However, Bromby is clearly no good at all at full back - everyone can see this but Robson, or so it would seem. As usual, square pegs and round holes.

I for one just thought that Geary would still be my first choice and Bardsley wouldn't be happy as a bench-warmer. The £2m price tag was also a touch hefty.

...And I'd worry about his stonking rod-on causing unrest in the dressing room.
